Disclosed herein are methods and systems for detection and discrimination of optical signals from a densely packed substrate. These have broad applications for biomolecule detection near or below the diffraction limit of optical systems, including in improving the efficiency and accuracy of polynucleotide sequencing applications.

Methods for single molecule analyte detection

Electrical detection methods are used to identify and further characterize single-molecule target analytes such as proteins and nucleic acids. A composition including a probe region and a tail region is contacted with a target analyte. The probe region specifically binds to the target analyte. The tail region is coupled to the probe region, and includes a nucleic acid template for polynucleotide synthesis. When conditions are such that polynucleotide synthesis occurs along the tail region, one hydrogen ion is released for every nucleotide that is incorporated into the tail region. A transistor such as an ISFET detects and measures changes in ion concentration, and these measurements can be used to identify the tail region and thus characterize the corresponding target analyte.

Digital analysis of molecular analytes using electrical methods

An electronic device includes a housing, which may be deformable or may include hinges to allow a display, which is flexible, to be deform by bending or other operations. One or more flex sensors detect when the electronic device is deformed at a deformation portion. One or more processors, which include an application processor, reconfigure a presentation of content along the flexible display in response to detecting deformation at the deformation portion, where the reconfiguring includes a content aspect ratio transition from a first predefined aspect ratio to a second predefined aspect ratio.

A method, device, system, and article of manufacture are provided for generating an enhanced image of a predetermined scene from images. In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving, by a computing device, a first indication associated with continuous image capture of a predetermined scene being enabled; in response to the continuous image capture being enabled, receiving, by the computing device, from an image sensor, a reference image and a first image, wherein each of the reference image and the first image is of the predetermined scene and has a first resolution; determining an estimated second resolution of an enhanced image of the predetermined scene using the reference image and the first image; and in response to the continuous image capture being disabled determining the enhanced image using the reference image and the first image, wherein the enhanced image has a second resolution that is at least the first resolution and about the estimated second resolution.

A method, device, system, and article of manufacture are provided for generating an enhanced image of a predetermined scene from images. In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving, by a computing device, a first indication associated with continuous image capture of a predetermined scene being enabled; in response to the continuous image capture being enabled, receiving, by the computing device, from an image sensor, a reference image and a first image, wherein each of the reference image and the first image is of the predetermined scene and has a first resolution; determining an estimated second resolution of an enhanced image of the predetermined scene using the reference image and the first image; and in response to the continuous image capture being disabled, determining the enhanced image using the reference image and the first image, wherein the enhanced image has a second resolution that is at least the first resolution and about the estimated second resolution.

A method, electronic device, and accessory for carrying out functions based on reflected electromagnetic radiation are provided. According to one implementation, an electronic device transmits electromagnetic radiation ('EMR') to an accessory and detects a reflection of the transmitted EMR off of the accessory. A characteristic of the reflected EMR maps to a predetermined function associated with the accessory, which the electronic device performs.

Systems, methods, and devices for extracting and distributing text of mixed types from displayed graphical data from a display of an electronic device are disclosed. The text types can include rendered text and text represented in rendered images. Displayed graphical data can be captured from data being displayed by an application on a display device. Text data can be extracted from the captured graphical data as text data at the rendering tree level, or by an optical character recognition process. In response to the extracted text data, a text selection tool with visual representations of selectable text can be applied to the displayed text data. Using the text selection tool, a user can select a subset of the text. In response to the user selection, one or more other applications can be determined and the selected text can be passed to at least one of the other applications for execution.
