A coating system for a surface of a superalloy component is provided. The coating system includes a MCrAlY coating on the surface of the superalloy component, where M is Ni, Fe, Co, or a combination thereof. The MCrAlY coating generally has a higher chromium content than the superalloy component. The MCrAlY coating also includes a platinum-group metal aluminide diffusion layer. The MCrAlY coating includes Re, Ta, or a mixture thereof. Methods are also provided for forming a coating system on a surface of a superalloy component.

Various methods and systems are provided for a flexible, lightweight, low-cost radio frequency (RF) coil array of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. In one example, a RF coil array for a MRI system includes a plurality of RF coils, each RF coil comprising an integrated capacitor coil loop; a plurality of coupling electronics units each coupled to a respective coil loop; and a plurality of wires coupling each coupling electronics unit to an interface board configured to couple to a cable of the MRI system. The RF coil array is a high density (referring to the number of coil elements) anterior array (HDAA) or a high definition (referring to image resolution) anterior array.

Methods are provided for forming a thermal barrier coating system on a surface of a component. The method can include introducing the component into a coating chamber, where a first ceramic source material and a second ceramic source material are positioned within the coating chamber of a physical vapor deposition apparatus. An energy source is directed onto the first ceramic source material to vaporize the first ceramic source material to deposit a first layer on the component. The energy source is alternated between the first ceramic source material and the second ceramic source material to form a blended layer on the first layer.
