A lock for an information handling system includes a sensor configured to detect removal of an element from a chassis prior to verification of a user credential, and a plunger that engages the chassis at a first position. A security controller verifies the user credential, and causes the muscle wire to move the plunger from the first position to a second position in response to the verified user credential.

A camera module for an information handling system, including: a camera having an electronic shutter; a capacitive sensor positioned proximate to the camera, the capacitive sensor configured to detect a change in capacitance at the capacitive sensor; a shutter controller computing module configured to: receive a first signal from the capacitive sensor indicating the change in capacitance at the capacitive sensor; process the first signal from the capacitive sensor, including determining that the first signal indicates to change a state of the electronic shutter; and in response to determining that the first signal indicates to change the state of the electronic shutter, providing, to the camera module, a second signal to adjust an initial state of the electronic shutter of the camera to a secondary state.

In one or more embodiments, a receptacle connector may include multiple springs that are configured to hold a plug connector to the receptacle connector when the plug connector is mated with the receptacle connector; a terminal; and multiple conductors disposed on the terminal in parallel side-by-side spaced apart relationship, each conductor of the multiple conductors disposed on the terminal includes a U-shaped section to give the conductor a spring property in a direction orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the receptacle connector to contact a respective conductor of multiple conductors of the plug connector and includes a section that is configured to be soldered to a printed circuit board. In one or more embodiments, the receptacle connector may be configured to mate with the plug connector in a first position and a second position rotated one hundred and eighty degrees from the first position.

An information handling system may include a retractable touchpad button bumper assembly, including touchpad buttons configured to move between first and second touchpad button positions dependent on whether a lid portion of the information handling system is open or closed with respect to a base portion to which it is rotationally coupled. When the lid is opened, the touchpad buttons may be lowered into their first touchpad button positions, where the touchpad buttons lie in a recess in the base portion and operate as input devices for a touchpad. When the lid is closed, the touchpad buttons may be raised up to their second touchpad button positions, which are higher than their first positions relative to the base portion, and may serve as a bumpers between the base portion and the lid portion. The assembly may receive a signal indicating the lid state from a proximity sensor circuit.

Embodiments provide mechanisms for actuating the retraction of the keys of a retractable keyboard based on the angle of the rotation of a coupled display, such as in a 2-in-1 IHS (Information Handling System) that may be operated as a tablet or a laptop. In a first mode, where the display of the IHS is in a laptop configuration, the provided mechanisms actuate the retractable keys to their extended positions allowing use of the IHS as a laptop. As the user rotates the display to various tablet configurations, the provided mechanisms actuate the keycaps to a second mode, in which the keycaps are retracted and may be further disabled to promote use of IHS as a tablet. Certain embodiments utilize a gear and cam mechanism to link the rotation of the display to the actuation of the keycaps. Certain other embodiments utilize a gear and crank mechanism.
