A method of controlling a medication delivery system is used to deliver medication to a patient. The system includes an electronic controller, at least one control button, a patient label, and a removable overlay label disposed on top of the patient label for controlling an amount of the medication to be delivered to the patient. The method comprises the steps of selecting the amount of the medication in accordance with a first set of explanatory indicia on the removable overlay label; locking the system such that the selected amount of the medication to be delivered to the patient is unable to be modified; removing the removable overlay label to reveal the patient label; and operating the system in accordance with a second set of explanatory indicia on the patient label.

A fluid delivery system is provided for delivering fluid to a patient. The system comprises a reservoir for storing the fluid to be delivered to the patient and a fluid discharge device operatively coupled to the reservoir for delivering the fluid from the reservoir to the patient. A controller is configured to operate the fluid discharge device. An input device is in electronic communication with the controller and configured for setting at least one operating parameter of the system. The controller operates the fluid discharge device based on the at least one operating parameter and locks the system after the at least one operating parameter is set such that the at least one operating parameter is unable to be modified. A display is in electronic communication with the controller to at least periodically display a code for resetting the at least one operating parameter. The code is altered at least once during use. The controller is further configured to unlock the system upon receiving the code thereby allowing a user to reset the at least one operating parameter.

Reprogrammable fluid delivery system and method of use

A fluid delivery device is provided for delivering fluid to a target site such as an intervertebral disc during discography. The fluid delivery device includes pressure and volume sensors to determine the pressure and the volume of the fluid delivered to the intervertebral disc. The fluid delivery device is hand-held during use and includes a syringe assembly having a plunger with threads that enables controlled discharge of the fluid from the fluid delivery device by rotating the plunger in a housing of the fluid delivery device. The fluid delivery device may also include a communication module to wirelessly transfer data to an external device outside of a sterile field, while the fluid delivery device is in the sterile field. The fluid delivery device may also include a physiological sensor to monitor involuntary pain responses based on changing physiological parameters such as increases in body temperature or blood pressure.

A medication delivery system delivers medication to a patient. The system includes a base and a reservoir disposed about the base for storing the medication. A pump for delivering the medication to the patient is supported by the base. The pump includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet. A first pinch lever is disposed near the inlet and a second pinch lever is disposed near the outlet. Each of the pinch levers move between an open and closed position to control a flow of the medication into the housing. A motor operatively engages the pinch levers to move the pinch levers such that the medication can be delivered to the patient. A biasing device engages at least one of the pinch levers and works in conjunction with the motor to normally bias the at least one pinch lever into the closed position during delivery of the medication to the patient and to maintain the at least one pinch lever in the closed position during a failure of the motor to prevent the inadvertent delivery of the medication to the patient.

Pump assembly for an integrated medication delivery system

A medication delivery system delivers medication to a patient and is suitable for sterilization by a sterilization fluid. The system includes a base and a reservoir disposed about the base for storing the medication. A pump for delivering the medication to the patient is supported by the base. A port extends from the base. The port enables fluids to flow into, within, and from the medication delivery system. The Port comprises an elongated housing having a Proximate end and a distal end with a fluid chamber defined therebetween. A plurality of fluid connectors extend from the elongated housing. A plunger is disposed in the fluid chamber and defines an internal fluid bore therethrough with the internal fluid bore being in selective fluid communication with the fluid connectors as the plunger moves between an off-position, a fill-position for filling the reservoir, and a fluid delivery-position for delivering the fluid to the patient.

A medication delivery system delivers medication to a patient and is suitable for sterilization by a sterilization fluid. The system includes a base and a reservoir disposed about the base for storing the medication. A pump for delivering the medication to the patient is supported by the base. The pump includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet. The inlet and outlet alternate between an open and a closed state to deliver the medication. A port extends from the base. The port fluidly communicates with the reservoir and the pump during sterilization to provide access for the fluid to flow into the reservoir and the pump. An actuator is disposed in the base. The actuator operatively engages the inlet and outlet to retain them in the open state during sterilization. As such, the fluid can penetrate into the reservoir, the inlet, the housing, and the outlet to sterilize the system.
