A variety of improvements to docking systems for portable computing devices are disclosed. For example, improved techniques for maintaining a data connection between a base portion of the docking system and a case portion of the docking system are disclosed. As an example, the docking system can include improved magnetics that help maintain the data connection between the base portion and the case portion, even during rotational movements of the case portion relative to the base portion. Further still, examples are described where the detection of a docking action between the case portion and the base portion can trigger any of a number of responsive actions.

Disclosed herein are a number of embodiments for wireless and non-conductive transfers of power and data to electronic devices. These technological advances can be implemented in retail security products (e.g., merchandising display positions for devices such as smart phones, tablet computers, wearables (e.g., smart watches), digital cameras, etc.) as well as docking systems for tablet computers.

Methods and apparatuses for wireless and non-conductive power and data transfers with electronic devices

This disclosure is directed to product merchandising systems that are designed to prevent brute force attempts to steal a product on display. The merchandising systems include security features that enhances the strength of the connection between a puck assembly and a base assembly and between the base assembly and a display surface. The merchandising systems are suited for withstanding brute force pulling attacks on the puck assembly and the base assembly.

Methods and system are directed to wireless and non-conductive transfers of power and data to electronic devices. The methods and systems can be implemented in retail security products, such merchandising display assembly for displaying devices such as smart phones, tablets, digital cameras, and wearables. In one aspect, a merchandising display assembly may include a wireless power transfer capability and a wireless data transfer capability. An electronic device may interface directly with the base position assembly or via an intermediary assembly. The interface may be accomplished without an electrical cable to transmit power and data from the base position assembly to the electronic device.

Methods and systems for wireless power and data transfers between electronic devices

A docking system may comprise a case mount for a portable computing device. The case mount can releasably dock and lock with a base mount in any of a number of docking position orientations. A plurality of case mount contacts can be organized into a plurality of case mount contact groups, wherein the case mount contact groups are arranged in a pattern on the case mount that permits a physical connection between a plurality of base mount contacts and a different one of the case mount contact groups for each of the different docking position orientations. Furthermore, an actuator can cause base mount latches to move in a manner that permits disengagement of the case mount from the base mount to an undocked position for the case mount if an undocking force is applied to the case mount.

The invention is a combined motor that combines or integrates electric and hydraulic power producing technologies into a single compact motor by means of common or shared rotor and stator elements. The invention allows optimized power, torque, performance and energy usage in electric and electric-hybrid vehicles and offers reduced weight and lower production costs due the use of common or shared components. The combined motor's electric and hydraulic power producing elements are preferably coaxial and coplanar, permitting axial compactness and enabling efficient space utilization in the vehicle. In typical electric vehicle drive cycles disproportionately large energy losses occur during the launch acceleration and brake energy recovery modes of vehicle torque demand. The combined motor increases overall efficiency by substituting high-efficiency hydraulic torque for low-efficiency electric torque during these modes. These peak efficiency substitutions conserve battery energy during launch acceleration, maximizing the state of charge to extend driving range or runtime.

Briefly, a docking system may comprise a case mount which may, in particular embodiments, attached to a portable computing device. The case mount may comprise a plurality of contact groups positioned at a plurality of electrically divided quadrants, which may permit the portable computing device to communicate with one or more wired networks.

A kinetic energy recovery and electric drive system for automotive vehicles comprises an electric pancake motor-generator having its stator housing coupled, combined or integrated with the gearbox housing of a gearbox or final drive mechanism and its rotor shaft oriented vertically and perpendicular to the drive-shaft or drive axle of the vehicle. In certain embodiments the pancake motor rotor may be fitted or integral with a perpendicular peripheral stiffening flange in which is located a plurality of equally spaced permanent magnets of alternating polarity that electromagnetically engage with electromagnets of the pancake motor-generator stator. To facilitate retrofitting to existing vehicles the system may include an autonomous hybrid controller that includes at least one sensor to detect motion of the vehicle and/or motor without requiring any interface or integration with the vehicle's subsystems.

A system for simulating shooting sports includes a non-projectile ammunition transmitter system that is retrofittable to any standard firearm having an ammunition chamber, a barrel, and a firing pin and a self-contained receiver system. The transmitter system includes an actuating beam cartridge and an adjustable beam choke. The beam cartridge includes a first actuating beam emitter responsive to the firing pin. The beam choke includes a second emission beam emitter responsive to the first actuating beam. The receiver system is a self-contained reusable target having beam sensors and hit indicators. The beam sensors are &ldquo;triggered&rdquo; when the emission beam &ldquo;hits&rdquo; or is &ldquo;sensed by&rdquo; the beam sensors. When the beam sensors sense the emission beam, they cause the hit indicators to indicate that the target has been &ldquo;hit&rdquo; by the emission beam. The target may also include at least one triggering motion detector that detects a triggering motion that is associated with the target being launched into the air.

A card guide allowing or impeding airflow to a circuit card uses overlapping airflow shutters disposed longitudinally along the bottom of the card guide. The shutters are operated in response to the insertion of a card into the card guide by the action of a panel of the circuit card engaging an actuating member on the card guide assembly. When open, the shutters provide an opening which exceeds fifty percent of the airway.
