A bonding material is described that is well suited to bonding polymer films, such as polyester films, to other substrates. In one embodiment, for instance, the bonding material can be used to bond a polyester film to a polypropylene article. The bonding material generally comprises an adhesive agent combined with a cross-linking agent. The adhesive agent may comprise a carboxylic acid modified polypropylene homopolymer, copolymer or ionomer. In one embodiment, the adhesive agent comprises a polypropylene modified by an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride. The cross-linking agent, on the other hand, may comprise an oxazoline polymer.

A shingle release film product and a roofing shingle product containing such film are described. The shingle release film product comprises a polymer film, a bonding material coating, and a release coating. The release coating comprises a silicone. The bonding material coating comprises an olefin polymer. The film product may be present on a roofing shingle product. The bonding material coating of the film product present on a shingle product is configured to adhere to an adjacent shingle.

An intercalated layered silicate comprises a layered silicate and an intercalating agent sorbed between the silicate layers of the layered silicate. Increasing the gas transmission rate of a film comprising fullerenes

A method of shrinking a film comprises the steps of providing a shrink film and exposing the film to an amount of radiation energy effective to activate the shrink characteristic of the film. The film comprises one or more thermoplastic polymers and at least about 0.001 weight % of single-walled carbon nanotube material based on the weight of the film.

The invention comprises an improved non-pneumatic tire, and particularly a shear layer for a non-pneumatic tire wherein the shear layer comprises an elastomeric composition that includes a metal salt of a carboxylic acid. The shear layer preferably comprises a dienic elastomeric composition that includes a metal salt of a carboxylic acid. In one embodiment of the invention, the metal salt of the carboxylic acid is zinc diacrylate or zinc dimethacrylate. Barrier coating mixtures contain in a carrier liquid, (a) an elastomeric (preferably butyl-containing) polymer; (b) a dispersed exfoliated layered filler having an aspect ratio greater than 25; and (c) at least one surfactant, wherein the solids content of the mixture is less than 30% and the ratio of polymer (a) to filler (b) is between 20:1 and 1:1. Coated articles, which are rigid or flexible and elastomeric, and free-standing films and membranes, which are flexible and elastomeric, are produced using the barrier coating mixtures.
