An aqueous polyurethane dispersion comprising at least one isocyanate terminated polyurethane prepolymer prepared by reacting in the presence of at least one pyrrolidone selected from the group consisting of N-n-butylpyrrolidone, N-isobutylpyrrolidone, N-sec-butylpyrrolidone and N-tert-butylpyrrolidone, a mixture (M) which comprises: at least one polyisocyanate compound (a), at least one polyol compound (b), having a molecular weight Mw of 200 to 8000 and a hydroxyl functionality of 1.5 to 6, and at least one water dispersible enhancing component having at least one hydrophilic group or potentially hydrophilic group in water.

The present invention relates to acrylic block polymers, either block copolymers or homopolymers, synthesized by a controlled free-radical process, and their use as low temperature flow modifiers in bio-derived fuel compositions. They are especially useful in modifying the low temperature flow behavior in bio-derived fuels. The acrylic polymers are especially useful as cold filter plugging control additives in bio-derived fuels.

A stabilized alkyl ester fuel is disclosed. The stabilized alkyl ester fuel comprises alkyl esters, an effective amount of an alkylalkanolamine, and an effective amount of an alkylhydroxylamine. The alkyl ester fuel is stabilized to oxidative degradation of the alkyl esters of unsaturated fatty acids found in alkyl ester fuels.

Compositions containing unsaturated fatty esters may be stabilized against atmospheric oxidation by the addition of an antioxidant package containing a phenolic oxidant and a nonphenolic oxygen scavenger, which may be a hydroxylamine, an amine N-oxide, an oxime, or a nitrone. If an amine N-oxide is used, it may be used with or without a phenolic antioxidant. Compositions treated in this manner show good resistance to atmospheric oxidation and resultant viscosity increase.

The present invention is a composition for and a method of shortstopping free radical emulsion polymerizations that inhibits the formation of nitrosamines. Formulations and procedures for the deposition of precious metals onto solid substrates are disclosed wherein the formulations are iodide-free and contain an organosulfur compound and/or a carboxylic acid and a source of soluble precious metal ion which is one or more precious metal alkanesulfonates, precious metal alkanesulfonamides and/or precious metal alkanesulfonimides. The formulations and processes may be cyanide-free, and the deposition may be effected by electrolytic, electroless and/or immersion plating techniques.

A procedure for the generation of organosulfonic acids from solutions of corresponding metal organosulfonate compounds by electrowinning, electrolytically driven hydrolysis or chemically driven hydrolysis is described. Appropriate organosulfonate compounds include the water soluble salts of alkanesulfonic and aromatic sulfonic acids which incorporate metals from Group VIB, VIIB, VIIIB, IB, IIB or VA of the periodic table.
