A method for tracking an object can include receiving first data input including first feature values of features that indicate a first position. The method can further include generating a first grid of cells representing an object track with the received feature values within an extent of the first grid of cells. The method can further include receiving second data input including second feature values of the features that indicate a second position. The method can further include, in response to determining the second feature values are within the extent of the first grid of cells adding a point corresponding to the second feature values to the first grid of cells to associate the point to an object track.

Embodiments regard techniques for mitigating radio frequency interference (RFI) in weather data. A method includes receiving raw pulse returns, censoring the raw pulse returns to alter data of the raw pulse returns that is affected by the RFI resulting in censored pulse returns, compressing the censored pulse returns resulting in censored, compressed pulse returns, and transmitting, by an antenna, the censored, compressed pulse returns.

Radio frequency interference mitigation in weather sensing

A system includes a first dataset of vehicle trajectories including individual vehicle tracks forming a first track density, a desired vehicle track density profile, a spatio-temporal coverage metric, and a track model including Heaviside functions encoding track time origins and durations for the individual vehicle tracks and including locations for the plurality of individual vehicle tracks. Approximations of the Heaviside functions are minimized as a function of the spatio-temporal coverage metric. The first dataset of vehicle trajectories is manipulated to satisfy the desired vehicle track density profile through minimizing an approximation of the Heaviside functions. Each individual vehicle track in the first dataset of vehicle trajectories is shifted as a result of the optimization, thereby generating a second dataset of vehicle trajectories having a second track density.

A ground-based radar system for weather sensing and aircraft tracking includes a ground-based radar that is configured to scan a volume of space associated with a particular aircraft for detecting a weather event in the volume of space, and an electronic control system that is configured to control the ground-based radar. The control system is adapted to track the particular aircraft via tracking data associated with the particular aircraft, and is adapted to detect the weather event via weather data associated with signals from the ground-based radar. The control system is configured to control the ground-based radar to adjust the scan of the volume of space in response to at least the tracking data associated with the particular aircraft being tracked. A geographically diverse radar network that includes multiple ground-based radar systems that communicate with each other also is provided.
