A method for coding data packets (DP) having at least one control command (S) and one data byte (B). The data packets are divided into sequences of control and/or data time blocks (SB, DB) each having a predetermined number (M) of time segments (ZS), whereby these can assume an on-value or off-value (EW, AW). At least one control command is coded in the time segments of a control time block, and a data byte is coded in the time segments of two data time blocks, whereby an on-value follows each time segment with an off-value. The method can be advantageously used in identification systems (IS) in mobile data carriers (DT) and in write/read devices (SL). The method results in the provision of a higher data transfer rate for transmitting data packets.

Method for coding data packets for transmission over an air interface

The method relates to the protected transmission of data (D-D), the coding ('S,' '0'-&#x2018;F&#x2019;) of which is represented, respectively, by a sequence (FR-FR) of a predefined number of on and off values (Z, Z). A count value (C) representing the predefined number is formed by changing the count direction (F, R) after each on value and incrementing or decrementing the count value with each off value. An error information (F, F) is generated if a first end value (EC), which is transmitted together with the data as a coded sequence (SIG) of the count value C, differs from a second end value (EC, EC), which, like the count value, is formed from the transmitted sequence. The method is advantageously used in identification systems (IS), in mobile data carriers (DT) and in read-write devices (SLG). This affords the advantage that a data transmission error can be detected quickly and with high reliability by using a simple forward and backward counter (CNT). The counter can be implemented with little circuit complexity by a simple software program or by an electronic circuit, e.g., by a binary cycle counter.

A method and associated apparatus for checking the data transmission between at least one read/write device (SLG) and at least one mobile data memory (MDS), in particular in an identification system having at least one mobile data memory (MDS) which is fitted to objects, for recording object-related status and/or process data, for example in a system for dispatching, transporting and/or manufacturing the individual objects. The read/write device (SLG) and/or the mobile data store (MDS) have at least one register region for input of data information concerning the quality of the data transmission between the read/write device (SLG) and the mobile data store (MDS). This register region is read by at least one external computer application station (), for checking the quality of the data transmission between the read/write device (SLG) and the mobile data store (MDS).

A method for coding a sequence of data bits (B-B), at least one of said bits having a logical on value or a logical off value. The data bits are organized in a sequence of time slot frames (Fr-FR). At least one time slot frame has a plurality of time slots (ZS-ZS). Each of the plurality of times slots are capable of having an on value or an off value (Zor Z). The coding comprises preloading a time slot (ZSAF) from the plurality of time slots with an off value (Z). Each of the time slots (ZS-ZS) other than the preloaded time slot (ZS) are loaded with an on value or an off value to form a logical on value or logical off value for the at least one of said data bits. A time slot with an off value from the plurality of time slots always follows another time slot with an on value from the plurality of time slots. The logical on value is complementary to the logical off value.

A method and associated structures for coding a sequence of data bytes (BY ,BY ), in which two bits (B , B ) of a data byte form a double bit (D -D ). Each double bit is represented by a time slot frame (ZR -ZR ) that has at least four time slots (ZS -ZS ). The time slots can assume an on or off value (Z , Z ). The coding is carried out in a time slot frame such that at least one time slot is preloaded with an off value (Z ) at a position (AF). The time slots that have not been preloaded have, at most, one time slot with an on-value in order to form a logic value (00, 01, 10, 11) of a double bit. The method can be used for identification systems (IS), for mobile data memories (DT) and for reader/writers (SLG). Therein, a higher data rate and/or a greater transmission distance between the reader/writer and the mobile data memory is achieved.

Method for coding a sequence of data bytes via an air interface

The method is used for data transmission between a first (U ) and a second transmission device (U ) via a transmission link (K). Transmitted data blocks (Bx&prime;) are returned for checking purposes and, if appropriate, sent repeatedly. Fast and error-free data transmission can thus be effected even when there is interference (X) on the transmission link (K). The method is particularly for transmission links (K) which cannot be shielded against interfering influences or can be shielded only to a limited extent by means of EMC measures.
