A polymer composition containing cellulose acetate in combination with one or more plasticizers and one or more biodegradable fillers. The biodegradable fillers can include monosaccharides, polysaccharides, esters thereof, and mixtures thereof. The polymer composition is formulated so as to have properties similar to petroleum-based polymers for producing, for example, single-use biodegradable articles.

Cellulose ester composition and articles made therefrom

Disclosed herein is a degradable cellulose ester. The cellulose ester may be formed into tow for use in cigarette filters or into articles, such as molded articles. A basic material, an enzymatic material, or combinations thereof is included in the cellulose ester in order to degrade the cellulose ester.

A polymer composition containing cellulose acetate in combination with one or more impact modifiers is described. The polymer composition can also contain a plasticizer and a bio-based polymer in addition to the cellulose acetate. A cellulose acetate wood filler composition comprises a binder composition and a filler. The binder compositions comprise cellulose acetate, a plasticizer, and at least one organic solvent. The binder compositions may be substantially free, e.g., free of tackifiers. The wood filler compositions may be used in a method of filling a cavity in a substrate. The method comprises applying the wood filler composition to an inner surface of the substrate.

The present invention relates to substituted cellulose acetates and methods of use thereof. One embodiment of the present invention provides a drilling fluid having a base fluid and a viscosifier having a substituted cellulose acetate having a polar substituent that comprises an oxygen atom covalently bonded to a nonmetal selected from the group of sulfur, phosphorus, boron, and chlorine; where the nonmetal is present in at least about 0.01% by weight of the substituted cellulose acetate.

The process involves esterifying a cellulose containing material in the presence of a densified gas such as supercritical carbon dioxide to form a cellulose acetate product having a degree of substitution less than 3. The cellulose acetate preferably is sulfate-free.
