An optical observation instrument, in particular a spectacle, a reading aid or a telescope, comprises an optical element, in particular a spectacle lens, adapted to be controllably adjustable in its refractive power, a sensor, and a control unit for adjusting the refractive power as a function of signals from the sensor. The sensor is a brightness sensor. In a method of controllably adjusting a refractive power of an optical element in an optical observation instrument an optical parameter is captured by means of a sensor and the refractive power is adjusted as a function of a signal from the sensor. By means of the sensor the brightness of the light impinging on the optical instrument is captured.

The present invention is directed to an arrangement and a method for eye examination and/or for determining biometric eye data in which the movement of the eyes is compensated through the use of an eye tracker unit. The arrangement comprises a controllable digital illumination unit and an observation system which are arranged on separate supporting arms. A central control unit has connections to an image recording unit, an optical imaging system, an eye tracker unit and an output unit. Further, transmitter elements and/or actuating drives are provided at the separate supporting arms, at the zoom system and at the magnification changer. The examination can be adapted in an optimal manner to the task at hand by means of the structured illumination patterns that can be generated in a variable manner. Detection of all adjusting parameters relevant for recording can be used for calculations and for reconstructing the pertinent observation conditions. In case of repeated examinations for determining changes, e.g., during the recovery process following eye surgery, the regions can be found again in a simple manner and examined under exactly the same conditions.

Ophthalmological appliance comprising an eye tracker

An arrangement and method for positioning an ophthalmologic device with respect to the patient's eye to be examined in x-, y- and/or z-coordinates. The device includes a controllable illumination unit, an observation system, an image recording unit, a central control unit, an output unit, an eye tracker unit, and a device for relative positioning. The imaging system of the eye tracker unit has at least two different adjustable magnifications. In positioning the ophthalmologic device, the signal of the eye tracker unit is used to track a measuring mark and/or grid structure projected on the eye, and also to detect the position of the patient's eye with respect to the optical axis of the ophthalmologic device. The inventive solution makes it possible to automatically position the entire device with respect to the eye to be examined, thus simplifying examination and accelerating determination of biometric data.

Ophthalmologic apparatus and related positioning method

The invention relates to a high-precision digital image stabilization of an image recording with a CCD sensor utilized in a moving or flying carrier. For the digital image stabilization, the movements of the carrier are detected with the aid of an inertial sensor and stored. Then, a correction of the image data is carried out based on the detected movements.
