An ash filter for a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine is disclosed. The ash filter includes a substrate, such as a honeycomb monolith substrate or a plurality of particulate substrates, and a matrix of a zeolite material disposed on the respective substrate or substrates, the matrix of the zeolite material configured to remove ash from an exhaust gas flow from a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine. An exhaust treatment system for a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine is disclosed. The exhaust treatment system includes an ash filter comprising a matrix of a first zeolite and configured to receive an exhaust gas flow from an engine; and an exhaust treatment device, the exhaust treatment device comprising a matrix of a second zeolite and configured to receive the exhaust gas flow from the ash filter.

Ash filter, exhaust gas treatment system incorporating the same and method of using the same

An emission treatment system for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine is described. The emission treatment system has an HC-SCR catalyst including a non-Pt group metal dispersed in a ceramic matrix configured to receive an exhaust gas flow from an engine. The system also has an oxidation catalyst comprising a Pt group metal configured to receive the exhaust gas flow from the HC-SCR catalyst. The system also has a U-SCR catalyst and a diesel particulate filter, one of the U-SCR catalyst or the DPF configured to receive the exhaust gas flow from the oxidation catalyst and the other one of the U-SCR catalyst or the diesel particulate filter configured to receive the exhaust gas flow from the respective one.

Exhaust gas treatment system

An exhaust control system includes a temperature sensor, a temperature estimation module, and an exhaust condition adjustment module. The temperature sensor measures an outlet temperature of an exhaust gas downstream from an emission reduction device. The temperature estimation module estimates a highest temperature of the emission reduction device. The exhaust condition adjustment module controls operation of the exhaust control system based on the highest temperature of the emission reduction device.

Regeneration systems and methods for particulate filters using virtual brick temperature sensors

A sensor diagnostic system comprises first, second, and third dosing agent sensors and a control module. The first, second, and third dosing agent sensors indicate whether a dosing agent is present at first, second, and third volumetric levels of a dosing agent tank, respectively. The second volumetric level is greater than the first volumetric level and the third volumetric level is greater than the second volumetric level. The control module selectively diagnoses a sensor fault in at least one of the first, second, and third dosing agent sensors based on the indications of the first, second, and third dosing agent sensors.

Systems and method for monitoring urea level

A particulate matter (PM) filter assembly includes a PM filter that filters PM from an exhaust stream and that includes an entry face facing a first direction of flow of the exhaust stream, and a swirl element disposed in the exhaust stream and that includes a blade that directs a portion of the exhaust stream in a second direction of flow that is different than the first direction of flow. The blade directs the portion of the exhaust stream to distribute the exhaust stream over a frontal area of the entry face of the PM filter. A related method of filtering particulate matter from an exhaust stream is also provided.
