A respiratory therapy system may include a vent structure. In one form the vent structure includes a vent housing, and a plurality of partitions inside the vent housing forming therebetween a plurality of vent slots. The vent slots include a vent inlet configured to receive an air flow, and a vent outlet configured to allow the air flow to exit into the surrounding ambient air. The partitions may be formed such that each vent slot has a smaller cross-sectional area at a first region closer to the vent inlet than a second region. The vent structure may include a plurality of deflectors configured to deflect the air flow through each vent slot towards a part of the vent housing and/or another component in the respiratory system. The vent structure may include a projecting portion extending outwardly from the vent outlet to inhibit generation of flow layer instabilities.

Vent for a respiratory pressure therapy system

The technology relates to a vent for a respiratory therapy system. The vent comprises a vent body having formed therein a plurality of slots allowing a vent flow of exhaled gases to ambient. The slots have a length, a width and a height. In examples the width of each slot is significantly greater than the height and the slots are arranged such that the widths of the slots extend in mutually parallel directions. The vent body may also be configured so that the length of each slot is significantly greater than the height and/or the outlet area is greater than the inlet area. In examples the vent is provided with a cover and an actuator to move the cover between a first position in which the cover at least partially occludes flow through the vent and a second position in which the degree of occlusion is reduced.

A patient interface includes: a plenum chamber; a seal-forming structure; a positioning and stabilising structure; a plenum chamber insert configured to be positioned and retained within the plenum chamber; and a vent structure; wherein the plenum chamber insert has a plenum chamber insert port; wherein the plenum chamber insert has an exterior surface configured to be positioned adjacent to an interior surface of the plenum chamber; wherein when the plenum chamber insert is positioned and retained within the plenum chamber, a radial channel is formed by the interior surface of the plenum chamber and the exterior surface of the plenum chamber insert such that gas is able to pass between a patient-proximal side of the plenum chamber insert and a patient-distal side of the plenum chamber insert via the radial channel during use.

Techniques for automated facial measurement are provided. A set of coordinates for a set of landmarks on a face of a user are extracted by processing an image using a machine learning model. An orientation of the face of the user is determined. It is determined that impedance conditions are not present in the images, and a reference distance on the face of the user is estimated based on the image, where the image depicts the user facing towards the imaging sensor. A nose depth of the user is estimated based on a second image based at least in part on the reference distance, where the second image depicts the user facing at an angle relative to the imaging sensor. A facial mask is selected for the user based on the nose depth.
