A steering column jacket assembly for a steering system of motor vehicle includes a first steering jacket extending along a longitudinal axis and a second steering jacket arranged for telescoping movement relative to the first steering jacket along the longitudinal axis. A guide bracket is fixed to the second steering jacket. The guide bracket has a guide bushing disposed between the guide bracket and the first steering jacket, the guide bushing self-centering the first steering jacket and the second steering jacket relative to one another to inhibit relative rotation between the first steering jacket and the second steering jacket.

Self-centering telescope guidance mechanism for adjustable columns

A steering column assembly that includes an upper jacket and a gear shift assembly. The upper jacket extends along a steering column axis. The gear shift assembly includes a shift assembly bracket and shift shaft assembly. The shift assembly bracket has a column mounting portion that is operatively connected to the upper jacket and a cradle portion extends from the column mounting portion. The cradle portion has a first sidewall and a second sidewall each extending from a base. The shift shaft assembly extends at least partially through the first sidewall and the second sidewall.

The armature assembly may include an armature component, a shaft, and a pin. The armature component may include a central through-hole defining a central axis and include a first end defining a first angle surface. The shaft may be disposed within the central through-hole and the pin mounted to the shaft. The flux collector may be mounted to the shaft and includes a second end defining a second angle surface. The armature component and the flux collector may be arranged with one another such that a first plane defined by the first angle surface is substantially parallel to a second plane defined by the second angle surface.

The steering column assembly further includes a brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) device comprising an inhibitor pin translatable between an extended position and a retracted position, the inhibitor pin preventing shifting of the transmission shift assembly out of a PARK position when the inhibitor pin is in the extended position. The steering column assembly yet further includes an inhibitor pin monitoring system. The inhibitor pin monitoring system includes a sensor operatively coupled to a stationary portion of the BTSI device, relative to the inhibitor pin. The inhibitor pin monitoring system also includes a magnetic ring operatively fixed coupled to the inhibitor pin, the sensor detecting when the inhibitor pin is in the extended position.

A steering column assembly includes a jacket assembly, a modular shift assembly, and a mounting bracket. The jacket assembly extends along a first axis. The modular shift assembly includes a shift bracket and a shift gate. The shift bracket is connected to the jacket assembly and defines a shift bracket opening. The shift gate is disposed on the shift bracket. The bracket defines a shift gate opening as well as first and second detents that extend from the shift gate opening. The mounting bracket is disposed on the shift bracket and has a tab that overlaps a portion of the shift gate.

A brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) solenoid includes a solenoid housing having an inner surface defining a lock pin cavity. The solenoid also includes a lock pin positioned within the lock pin cavity, the lock pin moveable between a first position and a second position. The solenoid further includes a bumper protruding into the lock pin cavity and stationary relative to the lock pin, the bumper defining the first position of the lock pin.

A shift control device for an automatic transmission comprises a shift control member configured for manipulation by an operator to control a shift mechanism of a vehicle transmission, and an artificial feel mechanism coupled to the shift control member for providing tactile feedback. The artificial feel mechanism comprises a sensor, a controller, and a piezoelectric element. The sensor is configured for detecting a position of the shift mechanism and sending a signal that is indicative of the position. The controller is configured for receiving the signal, determining a control voltage, and providing the control voltage to the piezoelectric element. The piezoelectric element is configured and arranged so as to receive the control voltage and to apply a mechanical force that depends upon the control voltage and that is configured and applied so as to mechanically resist movement of the shift control member relative to the shift control bracket.

The second shift bracket portion defines a shift bracket second opening. The shaft has a first shaft portion and a second shaft portion. The second shaft portion is at least partially received within the shift bracket opening. The shift clevis extends at least partially through the first shaft opening.

A shift gate assembly includes a detent plate having a shift gate pattern. The shift gate pattern is provided with a first detent, a second detent, and a plurality of intermediate sides that extend between the first detent and the second detent. A side of the first detent that faces towards another side of the second detent is disposed in a non-parallel relationship with another side of the second detent.
