Hybrid stream delivery techniques are described. In one or more implementations, a multicast stream of primary content is received at a computing device for output by the computing device. Timing information in the multicast stream is identified indicating when a break in the primary content is to occur. Responsive to the identification and before output of the primary content attains to the break, supplemental content is requested by the computing device that is available via a single dedicated stream. The supplemental content received via the single dedicated stream is cached during output of the primary content and the cached supplemental content is output upon completion of the output of the primary content up to the break.

Hybrid stream delivery

Digital streaming to loss intolerant clients is described. In one example, a system includes a repair module to repair an error in the stream of digital content having a plurality of packets configured according to a loss tolerant format. The system also includes a segment formation module to form the plurality of packets into a plurality of segments in a media presentation and a manifest module to configure a manifest file mapping time periods to respective segments of the plurality of segments within the media presentation. The system further includes a streaming server to provide the manifest file to a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) streaming client and form a response to the HTTP streaming client including at least one of the plurality of segments as requested by the HTTP streaming client based on the manifest file.

Digital content streaming to loss intolerant streaming clients

Streaming digital content synchronization techniques are described. A response is received to a request to stream the digital content. The response includes a time at which the digital content was last modified (e.g., a last-modified header) and a time at which the response was generated, e.g., a date header. An age is calculated by subtracting the time at which the digital content was last modified, e.g., the last-modified header, from the time at which the response was generated, e.g., the date header. An age describing an amount of time the response spent in one or more caches, if available, is added as part of this age. The time is determined by subtracting the age from a predefined setback time and the stream of the digital content is rendered based at least in part on the determined time.

Streaming digital content synchronization

Multiprotocol multicast streaming proxy techniques are described. In one or more implementations, a response is sent by a proxy service for receipt by a client device responsive to receipt of a request from the client device to obtain streaming data from a service provider via a network. The response indicates how the client device is to access a multicast of the streaming data from the proxy service and a single dedicated stream of the streaming data. Responsive to receipt of a request from the client device to receive the multicast, the streaming data is obtained by the proxy service via a single dedicated stream from the service provider and multicast for receipt by at least the client device.

Techniques and systems for media stream dissemination using a peer-to-peer network are described. A described technique includes joining a peer-to-peer network as a peer; determining whether to be a first source node in the peer-to-peer network; retrieving a media stream from a server based on being the first source node; dividing the media stream into separate portions in a manner consistent with division performed by one or more second source nodes in the peer-to-peer network; generating messages that include the portions, respectively, for dissemination on the peer-to-peer network; and posting the messages to the peer-to-peer network, where the messages are generated such that peers in the peer-to-peer network are able to identify duplicative messages that are posted by the one or more second source nodes, the duplicative messages being based on the media stream.

Peer-to-peer assist for live media streaming

This specification describes technologies relating to imparting real-time priority-based network communications in an encrypted session. In general, aspects of the subject matter described can be embodied in methods that include establishing, based on cryptographic information in a reserved, random-data portion of a handshake communication, a session, receiving parameter values relating to a sub media stream, included in a header of a network communication, storing the parameter values, obtaining state information and a data payload included in a second network communication, identifying, from the state information, a purpose of the second network communication, and whether a header of the second network communication includes one or more new values corresponding to one or more of the parameters, updating one or more of the stored values based on the one or more new values, and processing the data payload based on the identified purpose and the stored parameter values.

Imparting real-time priority-based network communications in an encrypted communication session

Systems, methods, and computer-program products enable multicasts. Data corresponding to a multicast from a source is received from a native multicast address. Other data corresponding to the multicast from the sources is also received from a mesh network. The data and the other data is assembled to generate combined data, and at least some of the combined data is stored or displayed.

This specification describes technologies relating to imparting cryptographic information in network communications. Techniques for interoperable cryptographic peer and server identities can include receiving a message, in a connection establishment transaction, from an endpoint, the message including an endpoint discriminator, selecting a certificate based on the endpoint discriminator, determining a cryptographic scheme based on the selected certificate, and establishing the requested connection with the endpoint using the determined cryptographic scheme. The techniques can also include accessing one or more hashes, each hash being a hash of at least a portion of a certificate, processing the endpoint discriminator for an identity object, and comparing the identity object with the one or more hashes to identify a matching hash. The selected certificate can correspond to the matching hash. These techniques can allow an endpoint to interoperate with other endpoints that use different or similar cryptographic schemes.
