A method of assembling an anti-wolf resonator assembly for use with a string instrument is provided. The method includes positioning a first portion of the resonator assembly against a first side of a surface of the instrument, and magnetically coupling a second portion of the resonator assembly to a second side of the instrument surface that is opposite the first side of the surface. The surface is positioned between the first and second portions of the resonator assembly. The resonator assembly is configured to dampen at least one of a musical note and a vibration produced by the string instrument.

A digital X-ray panel and method of fabricating an X-ray detector panel assembly is provided. The method includes forming a detector matrix on the detector substrate, forming a dam on the detector substrate circumscribing the detector matrix, forming a scintillator material on the detector matrix, and forming a hermetic covering on the scintillator material that at least one of extends to a surface of the dam and extends past the dam. The digital X-ray panel assembly includes a detector substrate, a detector matrix formed on said detector substrate, a dam formed on said detector substrate circumscribing the detector matrix, a scintillator material formed on the detector matrix, and a hermetic covering formed on the scintillator material that at least one of extends past the detector matrix and the dam, and extends past the detector matrix onto a surface of the dam.

Method and apparatus for deposited hermetic cover for digital X-ray panel

The present invention provides an X-ray detector assembly and a fabrication method, where the X-ray detector assembly comprises a scintillator material disposed on a detector matrix array disposed on a detector substrate; an encapsulating coating disposed on the scintillator material; a moisture resistant cover disposed over the detector substrate and the encapsulating coating, and an adhesive material disposed between the detector substrate and the moisture resistant cover so as to form a moisture vapor barrier. The adhesive material is disposed so that it is not in contact with the encapsulating coating. The fabrication method of the X-ray detector assembly includes the steps of disposing the encapsulating coating on the scintillator material and a portion of the detector substrate and removing the encapsulating coating from the portion of the detector substrate.

A cover plate for a solid state radiation imager having a substrate on which are disposed a photosensor array and a scintillator optically coupled to the photosensor array. The cover plate has a lip adjacent a periphery thereof, at least a portion of the lip comprising a hermetic barrier, the cover plate and lip extending over the scintillator and photosensor array, the lip being adhered and sealed to the substrate. Methods of forming a cover plate with a lip and of assembling the cover plate having a lip with a substrate so as to enclose a photosensor array coupled to a scintillator are also disclosed.

A radiation imager includes a photosensor array disposed on a substrate. The photosensor array is optically coupled to a scintillator. An imager includes a substrate, a light-sensitive imaging array on the substrate, a scintillator over the array, and a cover over the scintillator sealed to the substrate. An edge of the array is situated close to an edge of the substrate relative to other edges of the array and substrate. A U-shaped end cap is sealed to and covers an edge of the cover, the edge of the substrate and a portion of each of the cover and substrate inward from their respective edges.

A radiation imager includes a photosensor array that is coupled to a scintillator so as to detect optical photons generated when incident radiation is absorbed in the scintillator. The imager further includes a robust protective cover that is disposed over the scintillator to seal the scintillator from exposure to ambient moisture. The protective cover has a three panel laminate structure including a pair of first-type material panels with a second-type material panel disposed therebetween. In one embodiment, the protective cover includes a lower hermetic barrier layer, an intermediate structural layer, and upper hermetic barrier layer. The upper and lower hermetic barrier layers are of the same material; the intermediate structural layer comprises a composite material having an adhesive impregnated therein.

A three-terminal liquid crystal (LC) lens cell includes a center-biased symmetrical quadratic electrode network that has a center electrode electrically coupled to a bias voltage source, and a first and a second network electrode circuit. The respective bias voltage terminus of each network electrode circuit is coupled to the bias voltage source, and the respective control voltage terminus of each network electrode circuit is electrically coupled to a selectively variable lens focus control power supply. Each network electrode circuit further includes respective pluralities of network electrodes electrically coupled together in series and quadratic gradient network biasing resistors respectively electrically coupled therebetween to provide a symmetric quadratic voltage pattern. Each LC cell further is typically thin-film resistor biased, having an optically transparent electrically resistive planar layer disposed in electrical contact with each electrode in the center-biased symmetrical quadratic electrode network.

A programmable liquid crystal optical wavefront device selectively exhibits characteristics either as a lens or as a beam deflector; the device includes a liquid crystal (LC) control apparatus that is disposed in an LC cell to selectively deflect light beams passing through the LC cell. The LC control apparatus includes a bias electrode network and a bias control circuit electrically coupled to the bias electrode network to provide the appropriate bias voltages across the bias electrodes to determine the operation of the device in the lens mode and in the beam deflector mode. The bias control circuit includes a lens bias resistor circuit, a beam deflector bias resistor circuit, each of which comprise a plurality of respective resistor stages, and a lens/beam deflector switch circuit that selectively couples the resistor circuits to the bias electrode network to cause the device to operate in the lens mode or in the beam deflector mode. The lens/beam deflector switch circuit includes a plurality of thin film switches that are typically disposed on the same substrate with the bias resistors of the two resistor bias circuits.

An optical phase modulating device includes a nematic liquid crystal pixel for selectively shifting the relative phase of the constituent beam pair. An output unit cooperates to combine respective components of the constituent beam pair along coincident collinear paths so as to form a respective output light beam directed along a selected one of first and second output axes, according to the relative phase imparted by the phase-modulating device. The phase modulating device may comprise a cascading arrangement of pixel stages which can respectively provide a selected incremental phase-shift to each constituent beam passing therethrough.

An optical signal processing system includes a number of optical time delay units to generate differentially time-delayed optical signals. Each optical time delay unit includes at least an in put polarizing beam splitter (PBS) system having an input system Thompson prism and an output PBS system including an output Thompson prism. Each Thompson prism has a high extinction ratio and is positioned to act as a polarizing beam splitter, providing a high signal to noise ratio optical signal processing system. Selectively polarized light beams are deflected by the polarizing beam splitters onto predetermined paths that cause the respective light beams to be differentially time delayed dependent on the path that they follow through the optical signal processing system.
