A cosmetic powder is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a powdered inorganic material and a skin treatment agent. Inclusion of the elastomer allows for the coupling of water as well as water soluble salts into the cosmetic powder.

Powdered cosmetic compositions containing silicone elastomers

A sunscreen cosmetic composition is provided which is a water and emollient oil emulsion containing an inorganic sunscreen agent such as titanium dioxide with a relatively large particle size ranging from about 0.1 to 20 micron and an organic sunscreen agent. High levels of sunscreen activity are achievable without any significant adverse effect on emulsion aesthetics.

Sunscreen cosmetic composition

A process is provided for preparing a silicone elastomer composition for cosmetic products which includes the steps of feeding the silicone elastomer composition comprising a silicone rubber in a carrier fluid into a reactor, mixing the composition in the reactor, delivering the composition from the reactor into a high pressure pump, pumping the fluid into a device for reducing particles of rubber into smaller sizes and recirculating the resultant size reduced particles back to the reactor. The device for reducing particle size is preferably a high pressure fed homogenizer, most advantageously a sonolator.

Process for preparing silicone elastomer compositions

A skin treatment composition is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a skin conditioning agent, a volatile siloxane and no more than 5% water. Hydrocarbons such as petrolatum and polyols such as glycerin are the preferred skin conditioning agents. Inclusion of the elastomer provides a non-traditional smooth/silky feel to the skin upon application with a non-draggy rub in.

Anhydrous cosmetic compositions

A skin treatment composition is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a volatile siloxane and at least 50% by weight of water. Inclusion of the elastomer provides a unique liquid/powdery feel when rubbed into the skin.

Crosslinked elastomeric silicones in aqueous emulsion cosmetic

A cosmetic composition is provided which includes at least one keratolytic agent and a combination of water-soluble and water-insoluble anti-irritancy agents in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Most effective is a combination of a C.sub.7 -C.sub.30 .beta.-hydroxy carboxylic acids such as salicylic acid with a C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 .alpha.-hydroxy carboxylic acid such as glycolic or lactic acids. The water-soluble anti-irritancy agent is preferably a salt of glycyrrhizinic acid. The water-insoluble anti-irritancy agent is preferably a-bisabolol, azulene or combinations thereof. Other performance components may include a C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl lactate and an antimicrobial agent such as a zinc or aluminum salt.

Cosmetic composition for treatment of pimples and redness

A cosmetic composition is provided whose major component is petroleum jelly and incorporates a C.sub.18 -C.sub.30 acyl lactylate. Most preferred is behenoyl lactylate. Relatively nongreasy and easily spreadable compositions result which have improved skin healing, moisturization and other skin benefit properties.

Petroleum butter

A cosmetic composition is provided that includes a C.sub.2 -C.sub.22 .alpha.-hydroxy carboxylic acid or salt thereof dispersed within petroleum jelly with the aid of a phosphatide. Additional components may include a sterol and a C.sub.10 -C.sub.22 fatty acid.

Petroleum jelly with alpha hydroxy carboxylic acids

The invention is directed to increasing the strength and firmness of the skin and reducing the signs of cellulite. The inventive method includes applying to the skin a composition that includes inositol phosphate, particularly phytic acid and its salts, in a cosmetically acceptable carrier.

Cosmetic compositions for reducing or preventing signs of cellulite

Skin treatment compositions for improving skin strength and firmness and reducing signs of cellulite. The compositions contain a xanthine (e.g., caffeine or theophylline) and an inositol phosphoric acid, and/or alpha hydroxy acid. The ratio of the xanthine to the acid is in a specific range to maintain the xanthine in a solubilized state. A method of preventing or reducing the signs of cellulite by applying a mixture of an inositol phosphoric acid and an alpha hydroxy acid is also disclosed.

Skin treatment composition

A cosmetic composition is provided which includes at least one keratolytic agent and a combination of water-soluble and water-insoluble anti-irritancy agents in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Most effective is a combination of a C.sub.7 -C.sub.30 .beta.-hydroxy carboxylic acids such as salicylic acid with a C.sub.1 -C.sub.25 .alpha.-hydroxy carboxylic acid such as glycolic or lactic acids. The water-soluble anti-irritancy agent is preferably a salt of glycyrrhizinic acid. The water-insoluble anti-irritancy agent is preferably .alpha.-bisabolol, azulene or combinations thereof. Other performance components may include a C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl lactate and an antimicrobial agent such as a zinc or aluminum salt.

A cleansing composition in toilet bar form is described which includes an acyl isethionate salt as surfactant and a behenyl lactylate salt as a firmness additive. Additionally, the composition may contain a moisturizer cocktail of mineral oil, glycerin and silicone oil. Toilet bars herein described have improved mush and wear properties.

Skin cleansing composition

A sunscreen composition is provided which includes from about 0.1 to about 30% by weight of a quaternary ammonium functionalized phosphate ester, from about 0.01 to about 10% by weight of a cationic polysaccharide and an effective amount of a sunscreen agent. These compositions are waterproof, freeze-thaw cycle stable, moisture retentive and exhibit unusual skin mildness properties.

Waterproof sunblock compositions

An aqueous composition is provided which includes from about 0.1 to about 30% by weight of a quaternary ammonium functionalized phosphate ester and from about 0.01 to about 10% by weight of a cationic polysaccharide. These compositions are freeze-thaw cycle stable and exhibit unusual skin mildness properties.

Cosmetic composition containing cationic components

A cosmetic product is disclosed in the form of a gelatin walled capsule encompassing a cosmetic composition that includes a carrier which is a silicone polymer and an antioxidant. The antioxidant operates to inhibit degradation of the gelatin wall to prevent malodors from being generated. Retinoic acid derivatives such as retinyl palmitate are especially effective as antioxidants.
