A system and method for transmitting device status information from a first internal network, through a first internal network firewall, over an external communications network and to a second network wherein the first internal network includes a marking device and a computing device having a memory. Usage data is collected from the marking device and compared to previously stored usage data to determine the validity of the collected usage data to provide a comparison result. The comparison result is used to determine whether the collected usage data can be transmitted from the first internal network, through the firewall, and through the external communications network to the second network.

Customer vetted device status communication system and method

A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for monitoring a device asset of a customer via a mobile endpoint device are disclosed. For example, the method detects one or more devices of the customer via the mobile endpoint device, registers the one or more devices that are detected with an asset management system, wherein the asset management system is located remotely from the one or more devices, monitors the one or more devices and transmits one or more operation parameters associated with the one or more devices to the asset management system.

Methods and systems obtain manufacturer data from a device being evaluated. The manufacturer data includes a system description, a system object identification, and a device-type description. The system description includes a serial number having a format. The system object identification includes a standards manufacturer field established by a standards organization. The methods/systems evaluate the standards manufacturer field to identify the manufacturer, and rank multiple system object identifications based on the quantity of data within each system object identification. Additionally, the methods/systems match the format of the serial number to known manufacturer serial number formats. The foregoing allows the methods/systems to determine the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the evaluated device based on the manufacturer appearing in the data string, the rank for each system object identification, and the manufacturer appearing in the serial number format match.

Determining OEM of rebranded device

A system and method automatically detect parameters of a printer on a network having an unknown profile, to create a useable profile for the printer having the unknown profile by querying, via a predetermined protocol between a network administrator processor and the printer on the network having the unknown profile, a first state of the printer on the network having the unknown profile. The network administrator processor identifies parameters associated with the state of the printer on the network having the unknown profile by comparing the first state of the printer on the network having the unknown profile to the second state of the printer on the network having the unknown profile and the third state of the printer on the network having the unknown profile and creates a useable profile for the printer on the network having the unknown profile based upon the identified parameters.

Method for automatically determining remote printer characteristics

In a network comprising printers and print servers which retain queues of print jobs, a user is able to survey and view selected portions of the network, either by enumerating printers to be queried directly, or by enumerating servers. By providing substantially simultaneous 'views' of printers and queues in servers, problems within a large network can be readily isolated.
