Computer program for ophthalmological surgery

An optical system includes a first deformable lens having a membrane with a deformable portion. A sensor is configured to receive the light focused by the first deformable lens. An optical path extends through the first deformable lens and to the sensor. The first deformable lens is tuned according to an applied electrical signal in order to directly focus light traversing the optical path onto the sensor. A first volume of a first optical media and a second volume of a second optical media are defined at least in part by the deformable portion of the membrane. The first volume and the second volume are completely enclosed by the housing. The first volume and the second volume remain substantially constant for all configurations of the first deformable lens.

The invention relates to methods of treating an eye that include coupling a suction ring to the eye and introducing a liquid into an interior chamber of a container element coupled to the suction ring. The container element is also coupled to a focusing lens of a laser system such that only the liquid within the interior chamber is positioned between the focusing lens of the laser system and an outer surface of the eye. In some embodiments, the suction ring has a first suction region that is designed to suck the suction ring onto an eye and a second suction region that is designed to couple the suction ring to the container element.

The invention relates to a suction ring () for ophthalmic surgery, with a first suction region (), which is designed to suck the suction ring onto an eye (), and with a second suction region (), which is designed to aspirate a functional element (). The functional element and/or the suction ring may exhibit measuring means. The functional element may be formed in the manner of a container, so that it can receive a liquid which in operation is located between the cornea of the eye and a lens.

An irradiation system for opthalmological applications includes: a radiation source () for changing the biomechanical properties of the cornea; an optical system for directing the radiation towards the tissue; a beam-splitter () which couples out a part of the radiation directed towards the tissue for measuring or monitoring purposes; the beam-splitter also being set up in order to combine a further radiation of a different wavelength with the first-mentioned radiation; a controller for controlling the system, including a sensor; a mechanical stand () for supporting an irradiation unit (); and interfaces for exchange of data.

Radiation system for opthalmological applications

A method for determining control information for controlling laser radiation irradiated onto the cornea of an eye to be treated photorefractively comprises correcting a corneal ablation profile, obtained by measuring optical properties of the eye, with the aid of correction information, the control information being formed on the basis of the corrected ablation profile thus produced. According to the invention, the correction of the ablation profile is performed in the spatial frequency domain. To this end, the ablation profile is transformed into a spatial frequency spectrum. Corrected amplitude or/and phase values are then determined for various discrete spectral components of the ablation profile on the basis of stored amplitude or/and phase correction information. Subsequently, the spatial frequency spectrum with the amplitude or/and phase corrected spectral components is backtransformed into the geometric spatial domain. The result is the corrected ablation profile. The amplitude and phase correction information in this case respectively represent for a number of spatial frequencies differing at least by the frequency value a predetermined relationship between values of the amplitude or/and phase at the relevant spatial frequency and corrected amplitude or/and phase values at this spatial frequency.
