A system having a radiating element is disclosed. The radiating element may include a plurality of higher order floquet mode scattering (HOFS) layers including at least a lowest layer unit cell, a middle layer unit cell, and a highest layer unit cell. The radiating element may also include a stripline feed layer having a ground plane layer. The ground plane layer is configured in at least one of a non-equilateral triangular grid unit cell or an equilateral triangular grid., one or more horizontal and vertical polarization stripline feeds, one or more horizontal and vertical polarization ground plane slots, and one or more ground vias to create an evanescent waveguide for resonance free stripline to radiating element coupling. The radiating element may be dual-polarized aperture coupled with an active electronically scanned array (AESA) in a manner so as to enable the AESA to electronically steer a beam of radio waves to point in different directions without moving the AESA and radiate beams of radio waves at multiple frequencies simultaneously.

An AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array), including: a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) substrate having an obverse surface; TRMs (Transmit/Receive Modules) disposed on the obverse surface; thermal pedestals wherein each thermal pedestal includes a wall, having a wall height, including wall surfaces and one of the wall surfaces being a contact surface; and a TIM (Thermal Interface Material), having a TIM height, disposed between a respective contact surface of the thermal pedestals and the obverse surface. The thermal pedestals are discrete with respect to one another, the contact surfaces of the thermal pedestals are interspersed about the TRMs, the thermal pedestals do not contact the TRMs, the TIM is electrically and thermally conductive, and the wall height plus the TIM height is sufficient to suppress resonances of the TRMs below a frequency greater than the Tx and Rx frequency bands of the TRMs.

A higher order Floquet-mode structure (HOFS) integrated meander line polarizer and radome including: a substrate including layers having a dielectric constant (dk) of 2.9; a HOFS including metal layers disposed in a first subset of the layers; and meander lines, to provide a phase shift and match, disposed in a second subset of the layers, wherein the substrate includes a low-cost material and the metal layers include a feature trace and gap widths of about 10 mils or greater.

An integrated HOFS meander line polarizer radome including: a substrate including layers having a dielectric constant (dk) greater than 2.0 and less than 5.0; a Higher Order Floquet-mode Structure (HOFS) may include HOFS lines disposed in a first subset of the layers; and meander lines, to provide a phase shift and match, disposed in a second subset of the layers, where at least one layer of the first subset is disposed between the second subset of the layers.

A low-profile array and a low-profile radiating element including: a stripline feed layer; a High Order Floquet (HOFS) part layer; and a radome layer in direct contact with the HOFS part layer, where the HOFS part layer is disposed between the stripline feed layer and the radome layer, and the radome layer includes a high dielectric constant (dk) environmentally robust material.
