A patient support apparatus includes a base frame, lift mechanism supporting an upper frame relative to the base frame, a load frame, and a plurality of deck sections, a patient support surface, and a number of barriers positioned about the patient supporting surface. The patient support apparatus includes a notification system for visually notifying a caregiver of a condition or status of a component of the patient support apparatus.

A patient support apparatus may include a frame and an articulated deck coupled to the frame. The articulated deck may include a head section, a seat section, a thigh section, and a foot section. The seat section may include a stationary frame coupled to the frame and a moveable frame that moves relative to the stationary frame. The moveable frame may move between a retracted position and an extended position.

A person lift system includes a motor and a sling bar coupled to the motor. The sling bar includes a first attachment hook at a first end region of the sling bar and a second attachment hook at a second end region of the sling bar. A patient-lift sling includes a sling body and a plurality of attachment straps coupled to the sling body. Each of the plurality of attachment straps is configured to attach to one of the plurality of attachment hooks.

A patient support apparatus includes a base frame and an upper frame configured to support a mattress. The upper frame has a head portion including a recessed edge. Lift arms are coupled to the upper frame and configured to adjust a position of the upper frame. A first handle is coupled to the head portion on a first side of the recessed edge. A second handle is coupled to the head portion on a second side of the recessed edge. The first and second handles are configured to pivot inboard and toward one another to a lowered position extending over the upper frame adjacent to the recessed edge. An intravenous pole is pivotally coupled to the head portion and is adjustable between a deployed position and a stowed position. The intravenous pole extends along a rear wall of the recessed edge over the upper frame when in the stowed position.

A sheet assembly includes a sheet having an edge and a pocket extending longitudinally along the edge. A plurality of loops are arranged along the edge and extend from openings formed in the pocket of the sheet. An adjustment webbing is slidably positioned within the pocket. At least a portion of each loop of the plurality of loops is anchored to the adjustment webbing such that sliding the adjustment webbing along the pocket pulls the plurality of loops into the pocket and reduces an exposed length of the plurality of loops.

A method of rotating a subject includes arranging a lifting aid underneath the subject such that a midline of the subject is off center from a centerline of the lifting aid in a direction opposite of the rotation direction. The lifting aid includes a first loop extending in the rotation direction and a second loop extending in the opposite direction. The method further includes connecting the loops to a sling bar coupled to an overhead lift and directing the overhead lift to raise, where the subject rotates towards the direction of rotation due to the off center location of the subject. The method further includes repositioning the subject when the subject has rotated to a lateral recumbent position and directing the overhead lift to lower, thereby causing the subject to continue rotating.

The patient-support apparatus further includes an obstacle detection device and related method for detecting an obstacle between the first frame and the second frame of the patient-support apparatus.

A bed is provided having a bedframe, a mattress positioned on the bedframe, a first siderail, and a second siderail. The first and second siderails cooperate to define a gap therebetween. The bed further includes a siderail extender coupled to the first siderail that extends between the first and second siderails to close the gap defined therebetween.

A gas valve apparatus is configured to receive a gas specific adapter. The apparatus includes a gas valve body having a first keying mechanism, and a cap coupled to the gas valve body. The cap includes a keyed front face having a gas outlet configured to receive the gas specific adapter. The cap also includes a second keying mechanism configured to mate with the first keying mechanism on the gas valve body to permit the cap to be coupled to the valve body.

A head wall apparatus includes a support configured to be coupled to a wall, and a front panel coupled to the support to define an interior region of the head wall. The front panel includes an elongated opening. The apparatus also includes a gas block having an inlet and an outlet, and a shield configured to extend over the opening. The shield defines a track for slidably coupling the gas block to the head wall. The shield is configured to block access to the interior region of the head wall. A gas supply line located in the interior region of the head wall is coupled to the inlet of the gas block.

A monitor arm includes a mounting assembly adapted to be coupled to a support structure and a parallelogram mechanism coupled to the mounting assembly. The parallelogram mechanism includes a support member adapted to couple to an object, such as a computer monitor, a first arm pivotably coupled to the mounting assembly at a first pivot axis and pivotably coupled to the support member at a second pivot axis, and a second arm pivotably coupled to the mounting assembly at a fifth pivot axis and pivotably coupled to the support member at a fourth pivot axis. The monitor arm includes a counterbalancer having a first end coupled to the mounting assembly at a third pivot axis and a second end coupled to the first arm at the second pivot axis. The third pivot axis is vertically above and vertically aligned with the first and fifth pivot axes. The mounting assembly includes an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the position of the third pivot axis relative to the first and fifth pivot axes to adjust a counterbalancing force exerted on the parallelogram mechanism by the counterbalancer.
