A method for measuring a distance in a body vessel and introducing an implant into the body vessel, the method comprising: providing a guide wire, wherein the guide wire comprises a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the distal end comprises a spiral which has at least two adjoining spiral sections as markings, wherein at least a surface of one spiral section comprises a first material and at least a surface of the second spiral section comprises a second material, and further wherein the first material is different than the second material; inserting the guide wire into the body vessel; measuring the distance in the body vessel using the markings on the guide wire; and delivering the implant over the guide wire to the body vessel.

Guide wire for medical devices, method of using the guidewire, and method for forming a covering on the guidewire

A delivery system is equipped with a self expanding stent for implantation into a blood vessel, in particular in the region of the aortic arch. The stent has a hollow cylindrical body which is radially compressed for implantation. A pull-back sheath which surrounds the stent and which radially compresses it is also provided for positioning and releasing the stent in the blood vessel. The pull-back sheath has a highly flexible front section which surrounds the stent and which maintains said stent in its compressed state, and has further a more rigid rear section which is connected to the front section and which is designed to transmit torsional and traction forces to the front section.

Delivery system comprising a self expanding stent

A stent for implantation in a blood vessel is disclosed, especially in the region of the aortic arch. The stent is comprising rings which are disposed successively in the stent's longitudinal direction and which are made up of meandering circumferential supports. The stent further comprises a prosthesis material which is fixed to the rings and which connects them, thereby forming a hollow cylindrical body with a jacket which is substantially closed on the circumference thereof. At least one connecting support is provided between the last ring and the penultimate ring at the proximal end of the stent and connects these two rings to one another.

Stent for implantation in a blood vessel, especially in the region of the aortic arch

A device for protecting cerebral vessels or brain tissue during treatment of a carotid vessel includes a catheter having a distal portion, a proximal portion and a lumen extending therebetween, the catheter including first and second expandable areas provided over the length of the catheter. The device includes a first elongate member insertable longitudinally through the lumen of the catheter, the first elongate member being configured for stretching at least a portion of the catheter and causing one of the first and second expandable areas to transition from an expanded state to a collapsed state. The device further includes a second elongate member insertable longitudinally through the lumen of the catheter, the second elongate member being configured for stretching at least a portion of the catheter and causing the other of the first and second expandable areas to transition from an expanded state to a collapsed state.

Occlusion device and method of use

A device for protecting cerebral vessels or brain tissue during treatment of a carotid vessel includes a catheter having a distal portion, a proximal portion and a lumen extending therebetween, the catheter including first and second expandable areas for vessel occlusion provided over the length of the catheter. The device further includes an elongate stretching member insertable longitudinally through the lumen of the catheter, the elongate stretching member being configured for stretching at least a portion of the catheter and causing the first and second expandable areas to transition from an expanded state to a collapsed state, and wherein the elongate stretching member is retracted proximally relative to the catheter causes the first and second expandable areas to transition from the collapsed state to a radially, or laterally expanded state.

A system comprising: a hollow tube having a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending between the distal end and the proximal end; at least a portion of the tube comprising a porous membrane; and a gas-rich perfluorocarbon solution incorporated in the porous membrane; wherein the porous membrane has a porosity in the range of 0.001-200 microns, in order that: (i) the gas-rich perfluorocarbon solution is effectively incorporated into the porous membrane; and (ii) when the porous membrane is positioned in blood, the gas-rich perfluorocarbon solution elutes out of the porous membrane, in aggregations small enough to prevent the creation of embolisms in the blood, with the elution of the gas-rich perfluorocarbon solution into the blood varying between minutes and several hours, depending on the temperature and the hemodynamics of the blood.

Apparatus for inserting particles into tissue, in particular muscle tissue

The present invention comprises a vascular filter system for non-permanent application which is provided with a guide wire, a filter membrane having an inner area provided in the area of the proximal end of the guide wire and a free outer area, and an umbrella structure provided at least on the outer area of the filter membrane, made of a flexible material and permitting opening and closing of the umbrella formed by the umbrella structure and filter membrane, characterized in that the system has contactless structure for closing the umbrella. The structure can be of a magnetic nature or involve mechanisms based on temperature changes.
