The removal or transport of cut-off catch selvages in a loom is monitored by one or more sensors which produce a sensor output signal that represents the actual movement of the cut-off catch selvage. The sensor output signal is processed in an evaluation processor for producing a fault signal if and when the sensor output signal deviates from a predetermined standard or reference signal. The fault signal is used to trigger an alarm and/or stop the loom.

Method and apparatus for monitoring the removal of a catch selvage from a loom

A device for operating a weaving loom, including at least one carrier rail (,) which extends along a large portion of the weaving loom width and on which at least one operating device (,) can be arbitrarily moved. The device also includes structures for the wireless and/or wire-dependent voltage supply to the operating device (,), and for the signal transmission of control commands to the weaving loom control system. An alternative embodiment consists of constructing the operating device (,) as a portable remote operating unit (,) which has devices for the wireless signal transmission of control commands to the weaving loom control system.
