An aerodynamics control system for a vehicle may include a repositionable aerodynamic device disposed at a portion of the vehicle, a controller operably coupled to components or sensors of the vehicle to receive information including vehicle performance data and position information for the aerodynamic device, and a vehicle location sensor determining location information for the vehicle. The controller stores the vehicle performance data and the position information in association with the location information for each of a plurality of locations. Responsive to detecting an approach of the vehicle to one of the locations, the controller provides a control instruction to position the aerodynamic device based on recorded vehicle performance data and recorded position information associated with the one of the locations.

An aerodynamics control system for a vehicle may include an aerodynamic element operably coupled to a vehicle body, an actuator assembly operably coupled to the aerodynamic element to control positioning of the aerodynamic element, an altitude sensor operably coupled to the vehicle to determine an altitude of the vehicle, and a controller operably coupled to the actuator and the altitude sensor to provide automatic control of the aerodynamic element via the actuator based on the altitude of the vehicle.

Methods and systems are provided for enhancing and delivering engine sounds to a vehicle cabin based on a selected mode. In one example, a method may include adjusting openings of one or more valves fluidically coupling one or more corresponding engine regions to a sound tube of a sound enhancing system based on the selected mode. Throttle opening may also be adjusted to compensate for air routed from the engine regions to the sound tube instead of flowing to the engine cylinders.

Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing an actuator of a variable inlet compressor coupled in an electric turbocharger. During torque transitions, an electrical power consumption of an electric boost assist motor is observed and used to infer an actual compressor speed and pressure ratio across the compressor. By comparing the measured pressure ratio to a compressor map, it may be determined if the actuator is stuck open or stuck closed.

In one example, a method may include cycling an engine between a higher temperature operating mode and a lower temperature operating mode while maintaining engine torque output across the higher temperature operating mode and the lower temperature operating modes, both the higher temperature operating mode and the lower temperature operating mode providing stoichiometric exhaust gas to a downstream catalyst, and characterizing a response behavior of an EGT sensor based on output of the EGT sensor during the cycling. In this way, stepwise exhaust gas temperature changes are produced for characterizing the EGT sensor response without disrupting emissions and torque control.

Degradation of the waste-gate valve is inferred based on the motor torque profile of the motor after commanding the waste-gate valve to an open or closed position on a torque transient. Deviation of the motor torque profile from the expected profile is used to infer if the valve is stuck open or closed, and actions are taken accordingly.

A portion of requested torque reserve is provided by intentionally reducing turbine speed of an electric turbocharger by operating the associated electric motor as a generator.
