A repeatable manufacturing process uses a printer to deposits liquid for each product carried by a substrate to form respective thin films. The liquid is dried, cured or otherwise processed to form from the liquid a permanent layer of each respective product. To perform printing, each newly-introduced substrate is roughly mechanically aligned, with an optical system detecting sub-millimeter misalignment, and with software correcting for misalignment. Rendering of adjusted data is performed such that nozzles are variously assigned dependent on misalignment to deposit droplets in a regulated manner, to ensure precise deposition of liquid for each given area of the substrate. For example, applied to the manufacture of flat panel displays, software ensures that exactly the right amount of liquid is deposited for each 'pixel' of the display, to minimize likelihood of visible discrepancies in the resultant display.

Techniques for arrayed printing of a permanent layer with improved speed and accuracy

A fireplace surround structure is disclosed. The fireplace surround structure includes a mantel portion, a first vertical leg portion and a second vertical leg portion. The first leg portion and the second leg portion extend downward from the mantel portion at opposite ends to form a unitary fireplace surround structure. Each leg portion has a skeletal bar frame with a plurality of bar portions defining a three sided generally rectangular structure. Each of the sides has a lightweight non-combustible board portion attached on the exterior of the frame. The fireplace surround structure is open to one side and mountable on a wall surface. Each board portion is cast from a mix of Portland cement, silica, and cellulose fibers, which are combined and sintered into a flat board structure.

A decorative mantel article for placement above and/or around a fireplace that is lightweight for facilitation of transport and placement is provided. Additionally, the decorative mantel exhibits a non-combustible quality heretofore undeveloped within the mantel industry, particularly for such articles that are provided with decorative aesthetic designs. Such a lightweight article is provided with all non-combustible components with dimensionally stable structural benefits for long-term mounting and usage, thereby providing a sufficiently strong mantel with a low overall weight measurement. A system and method for monitoring the performance of a product vacuum packaging machine allows for a determination of the performance of platen and chamber combinations, especially in systems using multiple platens and chambers, and particularly where individual platens are used in combination with differing chambers during packaging operations.

A seal housing body, extruded AL or molded plastic or metal, has cavity portions communicating through an interface region formed by one at least one frangible projection protruding from the first body into the cavity, a first cavity portion for receiving a locking body, the second cavity portion forming a shackle receiving passageway. The locking body has a channel inclined relative to and in communication with the passageway. A spring in the channel urges a shackle locking ball up the channel partially into the interface region, the ball, having a diameter sufficient to pass through the passageway, is captured in the channel by the at least one projection. The locking body has indicia and/or flanges, at one or both opposing ends, to provide tampering evidence. The channel is offset from the locking body's central plane forming a single channel side wall to preclude trapping the ball by tampering.

A laser level eyewear apparatus for providing a level indication visible by a wearer through the lenses comprises a pair of base glasses for wearing in front of a user's eyes having a frame, two modified lenses through which the wearer can look, a level projection assembly that is biased to return to and remain in an orientation to project a laser indication a level orientation through the lenses, and a battery that supplies electrical power to the level projection assembly. The frame defines a frame style similar to that in conventional eyeglasses, except that it not only holds the integrated, modified lenses in place over the eyes of one wearing the frame, its eyewire area is structured to surround the edges of the modified lenses so as to allow the laser from the level projection assembly to freely pass through the lenses.

A disc filter is provided having a controller for controlling effluent surges that are produced by the disc filter. The method entails sensing one or more process variables that are a function of the effluent, and based at least in part on the sensed process variables, the disc filter controls the flow of effluent in order to control or minimize effluent surges.

An accelerometer includes a proof mass and a frame that are formed in a handle layer of a silicon-on-an-insulator (SOI). The proof mass is separated from the frame by a back-side trench that defines a boundary of the proof mass. The accelerometer also includes a reflector coupled to a top surface of the proof mass. An optical detector is located above the reflector at the device side. The accelerometer further includes at least one suspension spring. The suspension spring has a handle anchor that extends downwards from the device side to the handle layer to mechanically support upward and downward movement of the proof mass relative to a top surface of the proof mass.

A method is disclosed for singulating die from a substrate having a sacrificial layer and one or more device layers, with a retainer being formed in the device layer(s) and anchored to the substrate. Deep Reactive Ion Etching (DRIE) etching of a trench through the substrate from the bottom side defines a shape for each die. A handle wafer is then attached to the bottom side of the substrate, and the sacrificial layer is etched to singulate the die and to form a frame from the retainer and the substrate. The frame and handle wafer, which retain the singulated die in place, can be attached together with a clamp or a clip and to form a package for the singulated die. One or more stops can be formed from the device layer(s) to limit a sliding motion of the singulated die.
