The present invention discloses a LC-PUFA biomass composition which has reduced self-heating propensity and thus requires a lessened packing requirement for shipment. The invention also discloses methods for making such biomass composition.

Disclosed herein are processes for reducing or eliminating emulsion during the process of obtaining a microbial oil comprising one or more polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) from one or more microbial cells by washing the fermentation broth with at least 1× amount of water. Further disclosed herein is microbial oil comprising one or more PUFAs that is recovered from microbial cells by at least one process described herein.

Method of separating lipids from a lysed lipids containing biomass

The current invention relates to a method of isolating polyunsaturated fatty acids containing lipids from a lipids containing biomass. The method involves providing a suspension of cells with a PUFAs-containing lipid; optionally lysing the cells; concentrating the suspension; adding base equivalents to the suspension based on the total dry matter present; feeding a continuous reactor with the suspension; and separating the lipids-containing light phase from the water and cell debris-containing heavy phase.

Method of isolating lipids from a lipids containing biomass

The invention relates to the isolation of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) from a lipids containing biomass. The main characteristics of the method are that a suspension of cells containing PUFAs is obtained and the cells are optionally lysed. The suspension is concentrated and then incubated for at least an hour at a controlled temperature while adding a specific range of base equivalents to biomass and maintaining a moderate pH. The isolation of lipid may be performed in the absence of organic solvents and without the addition of salt.

An apparatus for practicing balance required for performing a trick of a sporting board traveling over a given terrain is provided. When the top deck is positioned at an angle to the centerline causing the top deck to overhang at least a portion of the first side edge of the bottom deck, the top-deck-lower surface is in communication with the bottom-deck-upper surface above an intersection of the first side edge of the second deck and the bottom-deck-upper surface; thereby, permitting the rider to practice maintaining the balance with the top deck so positioned and with the apparatus in motion.
