A turbomachine component includes a platform, a shank, and an airfoil. The platform includes a pressure side slash face and a suction side slash face. The shank extends radially inward from the platform. The airfoil extends radially outward from the platform. The airfoil includes a leading edge and a trailing edge. A cooling circuit is defined within the shank and the airfoil. The cooling circuit further includes a plurality of exit channels disposed along the trailing edge of the airfoil. The cooling circuit further includes at least one bypass conduit that extends from an inlet disposed in the cooling circuit to an outlet positioned on the pressure side slash face. The at least one bypass conduit being positioned radially inward of the plurality of exit channels.

A bucket includes a pair of radially-inner part-span shrouds, and a pair of radially-outer part-span shrouds. The buckets also include a dovetail, an airfoil and a platform extending between the airfoil and the dovetail. The airfoil includes a pressure side and an opposite suction side. The radially-inner part-span shrouds extend outward from the airfoil such that each of the radially-inner part-span shroud is spaced a distance from the leading edge and a distance from the airfoil trailing edge. The radially-outer part-span shrouds extend outward from the airfoil such that each of the radially-outer part-span shrouds is spaced a distance from the airfoil leading edge and a distance from the airfoil trailing edge, and such that the radially-inner part-span shrouds are between the radially-outer part-span shrouds and the platform. At least one of the airfoil and the dovetail includes at least one aerodynamic feature that facilitates mode shape adjustment of the bucket.

Turbomachine components and compressors are provided. The turbomachine component includes a platform and a mounting portion that extends from the platform. The mounting portion includes a dovetail received by a slot defined in the turbomachine. The slot includes a floor and a ceiling. The dovetail includes an inner surface and an outer surface. A hole is defined in the dovetail from an inlet at the inner surface to an end wall. The hole has a cylindrical portion and a tapered portion. A mechanical spring is disposed within the hole and in contact with the floor and the end wall such that the outer surface of the dovetail is forced into contact with the ceiling of the slot.

Turbomachine component retention

A blade airfoil including a platform, concave pressure sidewall and convex suction sidewall extending axially between corresponding leading and trailing edges and radially between a root and outboard tip. The blade further includes at least one part-span shroud positioned on the airfoil defined by a nominal profile in accordance with at least a portion of Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in at least one of TABLE I and TABLE II. The Cartesian coordinate values are non-dimensional values of from 0% to 100% convertible to distances by multiplying values by a length of the at least one part-span shroud. X and Y values are connected by continuing arcs to define part-span shroud profile sections at each distance Z along at least a portion of the at least one part-span shroud, profile sections at Z distances being joined with one another to form the nominal profile.

Part-span shroud configurations

The present embodiments set forth a blade including an airfoil including an outer tip having a floor, a leading edge and a trailing edge, a concave pressure sidewall and a convex suction sidewall extending axially between corresponding leading and trailing edges and radially between the floor and the tip cap. The airfoil further includes a tip cap extending from the floor of the outer tip and coextensive with the pressure sidewall and suction sidewall and around the leading edge and trailing edge. The tip cap includes a squealer tip configuration including a suction side tip cap portion and a pressure side tip cap portion. The suction side tip cap portion and pressure side tip cap portion extend unequal distances above the floor providing for cooling fluid flow out of the tip cap.

Damper stacks, rotor blades, and turbomachines are provided. A rotor blade includes a main body including a shank and an airfoil extending radially outwardly from the shank. The rotor blade further includes a platform surrounding the main body, the platform comprising a slash face. The rotor blade further includes a damper stack disposed at the slash face and extending generally along an axial direction. The damper stack includes a plurality of damper pins, each of the plurality of damper pins being in contact with a neighboring damper pin.

A turbine blade includes a root for fixing the turbine blade to a turbine rotor; and an airfoil coupled to the root, the airfoil including a suction side and a pressure side, and at least one internal wall defining a coolant chamber in the airfoil for delivering a coolant through the airfoil. A tip shroud is coupled to a radially outer end of the airfoil by a suction side fillet and a pressure side fillet. The tip shroud includes a shroud body defining a substantially trident-shaped shroud cooling passage including: a trunk cooling passage, a center cooling passage in fluid communication with the trunk cooling passage, a suction side cooling passage in fluid communication with the trunk cooling passage, and a pressure side cooling passage in fluid communication with the trunk cooling passage. The center cooling passage is fluidly coupled to the coolant chamber to receive a coolant.

Damper stacks, rotor blades, and turbomachines are provided. A rotor blade includes a main body including a shank and an airfoil extending radially outwardly from the shank. The rotor blade further includes a damping passage defined in the main body, the damping passage extending radially through the main body. The rotor blade further includes a damper stack disposed within the damping passage, the damper stack including a plurality of damper pins, each of the plurality of damper pins in contact with a neighboring damper pin.

A rotor blade for use in a turbine of a combustion turbine engine comprises an airfoil, which includes a concave pressure and convex suction sidewall extending axially between corresponding leading and trailing edges and radially between base and outboard tip end. The rotor blade further including at least one mid-span shroud engages a corresponding mid-span shroud on at least one neighboring rotor blade. The airfoil includes an inboard region between the at least one mid-span shroud and base of the blade&#x2014;and an outboard region between at least one mid-span shroud and outward tip. The outboard region includes at least two cavities extending from the outboard tip end inboard toward the at least one mid-span shroud; and inboard of the at least one mid-span shroud, the inboard region is substantially solid.

Various embodiments of the disclosure include turbine blades and systems employing such blades. Various embodiments include a turbine blade having: an airfoil having an airfoil shape having a nominal profile substantially in accordance with at least a portion of Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in TABLE I. The Cartesian coordinate values are non-dimensional values of from 0% to 100% convertible to distances by multiplying the values by a height of the airfoil expressed in units of distance. The X and Y values are connected by smooth continuing arcs to define airfoil profile sections at each distance Z along at least a portion of the airfoil, the profile sections at the Z distances being joined smoothly with one another to form the nominal profile.

A turbine blade includes an airfoil body having an outer tip and a platform; and a part-span shroud positioned between the outer tip and the platform of the airfoil body. The part-span shroud has a first opening extending through the airfoil body and having a first inner surface. The airfoil body includes a second opening extending radially from the first opening and having a second inner surface. A first elongated vibration-damping element is disposed in the first opening, and a second elongated vibration-damping element disposed radially in the second opening. The second elongated vibration-damping element includes a free radially outer end and a radially inner end coupled to the first elongated vibration-damping element. The first elongated vibration-damping element frictionally damps vibration, and the second elongated vibration-damping element damps vibration using impact within the second opening.

A gas turbine that includes a rotor blade that includes an airfoil. The airfoil may include non-integral base and top portions. The airfoil may include a pin connector connecting the top portion to the base portion. The pin connector may include: a tab extending from the top portion; a complimentary slot for receiving the tab formed in the base portion; an elongated pin cavity formed through an interior region of the airfoil, where the pin cavity intersects the slot to divide the pin cavity into first and second pin cavity segments; a tab aperture formed through the tab, where the tab aperture is positioned so align with the pin cavity upon the tab being received within the slot; and a locking pin that extends continuously through the first segment of the pin cavity, the tab aperture, and the second segment of the pin cavity.

Hybrid rotor blades for turbine engines

A system for relieving stress on a turbine rotor blade dovetail in a gas turbine is provided. At least one turbine rotor blade includes a dovetail that is axially insertable into a correspondingly-shaped slot defined in a turbine disk. At least one axially-extending tang is defined on the dovetail. At least one stress relief surface is defined in the at least one tang. The at least one stress relief surface extends along a central portion of a length of the tang. Accordingly, contact between the at least one tang and an inner surface of the slot is precluded, along the central portion, such that stresses generated by radially-directed forces along the central portion are reduced.

Method and system for relieving turbine rotor blade dovetail stress

A cover plate adapted to axially overlie root or shank portions of one or more buckets or blades secured to a turbomachine wheel, includes an arcuate cover plate body adapted to be secured to the turbomachine wheel so as to cover a root portion of at least one of the turbine buckets or blades; and at least one arcuate angel-wing seal segment detachably secured to one side of the arcuate cover plate body.
