A microwave plasma reactor for manufacturing synthetic diamond material via chemical vapour deposition, the microwave plasma reactor comprising: a plasma chamber defining a resonant cavity for supporting a primary microwave resonance mode having a primary microwave resonance mode frequency f; a plurality of microwave sources coupled to the plasma chamber for generating and feeding microwaves having a total microwave power P&#x3c4; into the plasma chamber; a gas flow system for feeding process gases into the plasma chamber and removing them therefrom; and a substrate holder disposed in the plasma chamber and comprising a supporting surface for supporting a substrate on which the synthetic diamond material is to be deposited in use, wherein the plurality of microwave sources are configured to couple at least 30% of the total microwave power P&#x3c4; into the plasma chamber in the primary microwave resonance mode frequency f, and wherein at least some of the plurality of microwave sources are solid state microwave sources.

Microwave plasma reactor for manufacturing synthetic diamond material

A diamond layer of single crystal CVD diamond which is colored, preferably which has a fancy color, and which has a thickness of greater than 1 mm.

Coloured diamond

A diamond layer of single crystal CVD diamond which is coloured, preferably which has a fancy colour, and which has a thickness of greater than 1 mm.

A layer of single crystal CVD diamond of high quality having a thickness greater than 2 mm. Also provided is a method of producing such a CVD diamond layer.

Thick single crystal diamond layer method for making it and gemstones produced from the layer

A layer of single crystal boron doped diamond produced by CVD and having a total boron concentration which is uniform. The layer is formed from a single growth sector, or has a thickness exceeding 100 &#x3bc;m, or has a volume exceeding 1 mm, or a combination of such characteristics.

Boron doped diamond

A releasable bolt device 1 for securing an emergency exit door 2 comprises a support structure 3 of box-like form, a bolt member 4 slidably mounted on the structure 3 for movement relative thereto, a compression spring 5 for urging the bolt member 4 away from the door-securing position, a frangible keep member 6, and a plate 7 for retaining the keep member 6 in place whereby its presence maintains the bolt member 4 in a door-securing position. The frangible keep member 6 is weakened locally so that it may be deliberately broken at that locality by manual force applied to it, whereby the bolt member 4 is moved out of its door-securing position by the spring 5.
