A method includes the steps of (I) fabricating a cured silicone product and (II) using the cured silicone product in a patterning technique. The cured silicone product is a reaction product of (A) a silicone cure package and (B) is a polar additive having a polyalkylene oxide functionality and a reactive functionality. The method is useful in soft lithography applications.

Branched polyglycols and branched polyether functional organopolysiloxanes are disclosed as is a process for making branched polyether functional organopolysiloxanes by reacting an organohydrogensiloxane and a branched polyglycol having an unsaturated group via a hydrosilylation reaction, as well as coating compositions containing branched polyether functional organopolysiloxanes and a binder are disclosed. Coatings resulting from these compositions were more hydrophilic and had improved dirt release properties as compared to coatings containing similar, but un-branched, polyether functional organopolysiloxanes.

A silicone gel composition, (A) 100 parts by weight of a first polydiorganosiloxane containing an average of at least two silicon-bonded alkenyl groups per molecule and having a viscosity of from 0.2 to 10 Pa&middot;s at 25&deg; C.; (B) at least about 0.5 part by weight of a second polydiorganosiloxane containing an average of at least two silicon-bonded alkenyl groups per molecule, wherein the second polydiorganosiloxane has a viscosity at 25&deg; C. of at least four times the viscosity of the first polydiorganosiloxane at 25&deg; C.; (C) an organohydrogensiloxane having the average formula R,Si(SiOR,H),wherein R,is an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms or aryl, R,is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, in an amount sufficient to provide from 0.1 to 1.5 silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per alkenyl group in components (A) and (B) combined; and (D) a hydrosilylation catalyst in an amount sufficient to cure the composition. The present invention relates to a siloxane-oxyalkylene copolymer surfactant having the formula MD.sub.x D'.sub.y M wherein M represents (CH.sub.3).sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 or R(CH.sub.3).sub.2 SiO.sub.1/2, D represents (CH.sub.3).sub.2 SiO.sub.2/2, D' represents (CH.sub.3)RSiO.sub.2/2, and the value of x+y is from 48 and 220, and the ratio x/y is from 5 to 15 inclusive. In the above formulae for M and D', R is a polyether-containing substituent selected from the group consisting of (1)--C.sub.n H.sub.2n O(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.a (C.sub.3 H.sub.6 O).sub.b R' moieties having weight average molecular weights of from about 2300-3200 and wherein n is 3-4, the ratio a/b is from 0.5 to 1.3 inclusive, R' represents hydrogen, an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or --C(O)CH.sub.3 and (2)--C.sub.n' H.sub.2n' O(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.a' (C.sub.3 H.sub.6 O).sub.b' R' moieties having weight average molecular weights of from about 1150-1400 and wherein n' is 3-4, a' is a number such that the ethylene oxide residues constitute 30-100% by weight of the alkylene oxide residues of the polyether, b' is a number such that the propylene oxide residues constitute 0-70% by weight of the alkylene oxide residues of the polyether, R' represents hydrogen, an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or --C(O)CH.sub.3, and the blend average molecular weight of the overall polyether-containing substituents R in the compositions is from about 1500 to 2200 and the overall EO/PO molar ratio is from about 0.65 to 1.2. The siloxane-oxyalkylene copolymer surfactants are useful in producing flexible polyurethane slabstock foams.

This invention relates to a method for preparing a flexible polyurethane slabstock foam by reacting a polyol, an organic diisocyanate, and water in the presence of at least one urethane catalyst, a siloxane-oxyalkylene copolymer surfactant and, optionally another blowing agent, where the surfactant has the average formula MD.sub.x D'.sub.y M where M is (CH.sub.3).sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 or R(CH.sub.3).sub.2 SiO.sub.1/2, D is (CH.sub.3).sub.2 SiO.sub.2/2, D' is (CH.sub.3)RSiO.sub.2/2, and the value of x+y is 48 to 220, the ratio x/y is 5 to 15 inclusive, R is a polyether-containing substituent selected from the group consisting of (1) --C.sub.n H.sub.2n O(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.a (C.sub.3 H.sub.6 O).sub.b R' group having weight average molecular weights in the range 2300-3400 and wherein n is 3-4, the ratio a/b is from 0.5 to 1.3 inclusive, R' represents hydrogen, an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or --C(O)CH.sub.3 and (2) --C.sub.n' H.sub.2n' O(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.a' (C.sub.3 H.sub.6 O).sub.b' R' group having weight average molecular weights in the range 750-1400 and wherein n' is 3-4, a' is a number such that the ethylene oxide residues constitute 30-100% by weight of the alkylene oxide residues of the polyether, b' is a number such that the propylene oxide residues constitute 0-70% by weight of the alkylene oxide residues of the polyether, R' represents hydrogen, an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or --C(O)CH.sub.3, and the blend average molecular weight of the overall polyether-containing substituents R in the surfactant is in the range from 1500 to 2200 and the EO/PO molar ratio ranges from 0.65 to 1.2.

Method for preparing flexible polyurethane foams

The present invention relates to an organopolysiloxane compound having at least one group having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.3 is a divalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are selected from a hydrogen atom or a group having the formula --(C.sub.n H.sub.2n+1) where n has a value from 1 to 30, R.sup.4 is selected from a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, or an aryl group, d has a value from 0 to 150, and e has a value from 0 to 150, with the proviso that the value of d+e is greater than zero. The organopolysiloxane compounds of this invention reduce the amount of foam in hydrocarbon fuel, especially in diesel fuels and jet fuels. The organopolysiloxane compounds act as foam control agents which display consistent compatibility and miscibility with additives which are frequently present in hydrocarbon fuels.

An improved process is provided for the preparation of siloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymer surfactant compositions which utilize a hydrosilylation reaction with a phenyl ether as the reaction solvent and the use of a phenyl ether as a cold blend additive. Ethylene glycol phenyl ether is the preferred reaction solvent or cold blend additive.

An improved process is provided for the preparation of siloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymer surfactant compositions which utilize a hydrosilylation reaction with a phenyl ether as the reaction solvent. The reaction solvent need not be removed from the block copolymer, particularly when the block copolymer is used as a surfactant for polyurethane foam formulations. Ethylene glycol phenyl ether is the preferred reaction solvent.
