Disclosed is an injection stretch blow molded (ISBM) container containing a surface having a static coefficient of friction (COF) of 0.15 to 0.21, a dynamic COF of 0.06 to 0.1, wherein the surface retains a water contact angle of 76° or higher for up to three minutes after wetting of the surface with a water drop of 14 to 16 mm diameter and the container is made with a polymeric composition containing a high density polyethylene (HDPE) having a dispersity (Mw/Mn) of 9 or higher as measured by GPC; a MI2 of 1 g/10 min or higher as measured by ASTM D-1238; 190° C./2.16 kg, as measured by ASTM D-1238; and an environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) at 100% Igepal of >150 hours as measured by ASTM D-1693, B.

Low friction ISBM bottles

A process forming a high MFR polypropylene includes providing a reactor powder polypropylene, the reactor powder polypropylene having a melt flow rate of less than 100 dg/min. The process also includes mixing the reactor powder polypropylene with a free-radical initiator to form a powder/initiator mixture and subjecting the powder/initiator mixture to post-reactor forming. The present disclosure further provides for a vis-broken polypropylene and a polymer article.

Enhanced heat stability polypropylene

Color-stable rheology controlled polyolefin compositions and methods of making are described. A color-stable rheology controlled polyolefin composition can include a controlled rheology grade thermoplastic polyolefin, and an effective amount of a trisamide-based compound that imparts color-stability to the composition. The color-stable solid-state thermoplastic polyolefin composition can have a Hunter b value color change (&#x394;b) rate of &#x2264;0.03/day when stored at 93&#xb0; C. for 50 days.

Clarified polypropylene for long term color performance

A thermoplastic polyolefin composition and methods for its use is disclosed. The composition can include a thermoplastic polyolefin and a clarifying agent blend comprising a trisamide clarifier and sorbitol clarifier at a ratio of trisamide clarifier to sorbitol clarifier of 1:2 to 1:40 w/w.

Clarifier blends for optimum performance

A method of forming a thermoformed article may include melt extruding polyethylene to form an extruded sheet. The rheological breadth parameter of the polyethylene may change by no more than about 5% after extrusion relative to the rheological breadth parameter of the polyethylene prior to extrusion. The extruded sheet may be thermoformed within a mold to form the thermoformed article. During thermoforming, the extruded sheet may be subjected to solid-state stretching in one or more directions. The thermoformed article may be retrieved from the mold. The polyethylene may have a rheological breadth parameter of from 0.20 to 0.40, a multimodal molecular weight distribution, a polydispersity (Mw/Mn) of from 5 to 18, a density ranging from 0.940 to 0.970 g/cc, may exhibit tensile strain-hardening, or combinations thereof.

Polyethylene for superior sheet extrusion thermoforming performance

Applicants have discovered that certain polyethylene (PE) homopolymers or copolymers of ethylene and Cto Calpha-olefin monomers are more suitable for oriented processes than other polyethylene resins. In an aspect, the PE has a MFI of 0.3 g/10 min. to 5.0 g/10 min., a melting point of from 110&#xb0; C. to 140&#xb0; C., a density of from 0.912 g/cmto 0.965 g/cm(%), a haze of 10% or less, a clarity of at least 90, and a gloss of at least 60. The polyethylene is heated and formed into an article, cooled, and then the article is stretch oriented. In an embodiment, the film, tape, the melt extruded, injection blow molded, injection stretch blow molded, cast, and thermoformed articles that can be produced with this polyethylene has a thickness of 0.1 mil to 100 mils. The polyethylene exhibits excellent elasticity, toughness, stretch and optical properties for such applications.

Polyethylene useful for producing film and molded articles in a process which uses solid state stretching

An ISBM article is disclosed wherein the ISBM article is made from an HDPE resin having a MI2 of 0.1 to 5.0 dg/min as measured by ASTM D-1238; 190&#xb0; C./2.16 kg, a density of from 0.940 to 0.970 g/cc as measured by ASTM D792, a peak molecular weight of greater than 40,000 g/mol and a zero shear viscosity between 15,000 and 250,000 Pa&#xb7;sec.

Solid-state stretched HDPE

A controlled rheology polypropylene that is made from Ziegler-Natta produced random copolymer and an additive formulation, extruded in the presence of a peroxide, exhibits low fluid retention and can be used to make medical/laboratory grade equipment, such a pipette tips.

A blown film composition including a first high density polyethylene component and a second high density polyethylene component, wherein the blown film contains a mixture of three or more discrete molecular weight distributions, and wherein the second high density polyethylene component has at least one more discrete molecular weight distribution than the first high density polyethylene component.

Methods for improving multimodal polyethylene and films produced therefrom

A biaxially oriented film that comprises polypropylene and either polytrimethylene terephthalate or polymethylpentene as a cavitating agent in an amount from 5 wt % to 25 wt %. The film has a haze of from 90% to 100% and a gloss of from 10 to 150. The film may be used in food packaging applications and in industrial applications.

Modifiers for oriented polypropylene

Polymer articles formed from a modified propylene based polymer and processes of forming the same are described herein. The modified propylene based polymers generally include a propylene based polymer, a nucleator including a hyper nucleator, and a neutralizer composition, wherein the neutralizer composition includes a first compound selected from stearoyl lactylates, lactates, hydrotalcites, hydroxides and combinations thereof and may optionally include a second compound selected from metal stearates, wherein the lactates are selected from modified calcium salts derived from stearic and lactic acids and calcium lactates.

Neutralizer modified propylene based polymers and processes of forming the same

Polymer articles and processes of forming the same are described herein. The processes generally include providing an ethylene based polymer, blending the ethylene based polymer with a modifier to form modified polyethylene and forming the modified polyethylene into a polymer article, wherein the polymer article exhibits a haze that is at least about 10% less than a polymer article prepared with a similarly modified polyethylene.

Articles formed from nucleated polyethylene

It has been discovered that the properties of sheet or film materials of broad molecular weight distribution ethylene/propylene rubber impact-modified heterophasic copolymer (ICP) can be improved by blending the ICP with a second polyolefin. The second polyolefin may be a syndiotactic polypropylene (sPP), a random copolymer (RCP) of propylene and comonomer (e.g. ethylene and/or butene) made using a Ziegler-Natta or metallocene catalyst, medium density polyethylene (MDPE), linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), or low crystalline copolymer of propylene/&#x3b1;-olefin. Improvements include, but are not necessarily limited to, reduced motor amps, lower secant modulus, increased dart drop strength, increased gloss, reduced haze, increased elongation to yield, elimination of stress whitening, improved puncture resistance, and decreased seal initiation temperature. This sheet of film materials may be co-extruded with other resins or laminated with other materials after extrusion.
