A anode for use in a lithium ion battery is composed of an electrode substrate, a paste distributed on the electrode substrate and comprising a plurality of Si, Ge, or SiGe nanocrystals intercalated with lithium ions, and a binder mixed with the paste to adhere the paste to the electrode substrate. The lithiated anode paste may be formed by an electrodeposition process or an electrolytic process.

According to certain non-limiting embodiments disclosed herein, the functionality of a distributed computing platform, such as a content delivery network with network storage, is improved by providing automated and on-demand upload capability into the network storage. In one embodiment, the platform is made up of many proxy servers. As clients request content from the proxies, they generate upload commands for the network storage subsystem to ingest the content from a content provider origin infrastructure. Preferably, the proxy servers are configured to generate 'safe' upload commands such that objects are not ingested if they contain sensitive information and/or are personalized and/or might be dynamically generated objects. Thus, relatively safe 'static' objects can be automatically uploaded and migrated from a content provider origin, as client requests arrive.

This is necessary, where, for example, the first policy generates and stores a value to be used by the second policy. Policies are small programs written as small programs. A configlet hierarchy is defined, such that a child configlet inherits properties which it does not define from its parent. A mapping function maps infrastructure data in a first format to a second format, so that the second format is recognizable by the policy engine. A loader batches, schedules and loads a configuration file to its intended device. Upon replacing a first device using a first configuration format with a second device using a second configuration format, the first device's configuration is read in or uploaded and reverse-translated into configlets. The configlets are then translated into a configuration formatted for the second device. The system retains device logins and passwords in encrypted format. A user desiring to connect to a device must log in to the system instead. The system in turn logs in or connects to the device and passes information back and forth between the user and the device, as if the user were logged directly into the device.
