A system is configured to portray information about at least one electronic module in an enclosure, including at least the positions of components in the electronic module. A projection device has a projection element, a first networking circuit configured to communicate with a server, and a first processor circuit that identifies an electronic module, requests information from a server about at least physical locations of some components in the module, renders an image based on the received information, and scales the image for display on the electronic module. The projection element is configured to display the scaled image on the electronic module after the module is withdrawn from the enclosure.

An information technology system includes a micro projector display for displaying status, operating, troubleshooting, and location information. An image output from the micro projector display is viewable from outside the enclosure, for example on a cabinet door, an optional retractable projection screen included with the enclosure, or a floor, wall, or ceiling of a room, or other external surface. In some embodiments of the invention, a micro display projector is adapted for removable electrical and mechanical connection to one or more docking ports on the information technology system. In some embodiments of the invention, a projection direction for the micro projector display is selectable.

A tray keying mechanism is mounted on a backplane inside a modular chassis and has a protrusion that stands out like a post for each of several equipment bays. A modular tray can be inserted into each of the equipment bays, but it will not be allowed to be fully inserted and to engage the electrical connectors on the backplane if the corresponding post meets an obstruction on the rear apron of the tray. If the particular tray is the correct type, and is not upside down, the post will encounter no obstructions during the insertion of the tray, and the electrical connectors will be allowed to engage. In one embodiment, the keying mechanism comprises a bracket of molded plastic that fits all around the several connectors on the backplane, and could be patterned to fit an already existing and in-service backplane and chassis.

A method and apparatus for providing toolless rack mounting rail installation using a pin having a latch. A retention device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes stepped features and a dual locking mechanism that are configured to engage standard apertures of rack systems. The locking mechanism is configured to extend beyond the surface of a pin when in a normal position, but may be depressed to allow the retention device to be easily inserted or removed without the use of tools.

Minimizing thickness of deadfronted display assemblies

An apparatus and method to automatically secure a chassis to a rackmount rail. The apparatus includes a pin operably attached to a chassis and an aperture disposed within a rackmount rail to receive the pin. The pin is attached to the chassis such that the pin automatically protrudes from the chassis upon inserting a component into the chassis. The aperture automatically receives the pin to secure the chassis. Removing the component from the chassis automatically disengages the pin from the aperture to release the chassis.

Disclosed is cable restraint including a flexible and resilient cable retainer including a cable retaining body and a plurality of cable grips, the body and grips defining a cable cavity that is contoured to partially house a cable, a tie down portion extending from a tie down end of the cable retainer, the tie down portion being configured to allow association of the tie down portion with an electronic enclosure, a portability handle extending from the tie down portion, a plug enclosure including a first enclosure portion and a second enclosure portion that is hinged to the first portion, and the second portion being rotatable into enclosing association with the first portion to form and define a plug cavity for disposal of a plug and a plug opening that allows the plug to associate with the electronic enclosure, and a pull handle extending from the first end portion.
