A wire lug connector includes a lug having a termination end configured to be terminated to a conductor of a wire. The lug has a conductive base at a mounting end configured to be mounted to a substrate. The base has a plurality of compliant pins extending from a bottom of the base. The compliant pins are electrically connected to the conductor by the base. The compliant pins are configured to be mechanically and electrically connected to the substrate. The compliant pins may have double ended press-fit sections at opposite heads and tails of the compliant pins that are press-fit into corresponding openings in the base and vias in the substrate.

Wire lug connector

Electrical contact having a body portion and a compliant contact tail that is coupled to the body portion and configured to be inserted into a plated thru-hole (PTH). The contact tail extends from the body portion along a central axis to a leading end. The contact tail includes first and second compliant regions that are located between the leading end and the body portion. The contact tail has a joint region that joins the first and second compliant regions. Each of the first and second compliant regions is dimensioned to mechanically engage the PTH when inserted therein. The joint region is dimensioned smaller than the first and second compliant regions such that the joint region moves freely through the PTH.

Electrical contact and electrical connector assembly including the same

Electrical connector including a connector housing having a mating side that faces in a mating direction. The mating side configured to engage a mating connector. The electrical connector also includes an electrical contact held by the connector housing. The electrical contact includes a common body section and first, second, and third contact beams that are arranged along the mating side and have respective contact bases coupled to the body section. Each of the first, second, and third contact beams extend in the mating direction from the respective contact base to a respective distal end. Each of the first, second, and third contact beams has a beam length that is measured from the respective contact base to the respective distal end. The beam lengths of the first, second, and third contact beams being different from one another.

Electrical connector having an electrical contact with a plurality of contact beams

Electrical connector including a connector housing having a mating side facing in a mating direction along an engagement axis. The mating side extends along a lateral axis and an orientation axis that are perpendicular to each other and the engagement axis. The connector housing also includes first and second end sides facing in opposite directions along the lateral axis and a top side facing in a direction along the orientation axis. The top side extends between the first and second end sides and is substantially planar from the first end side to the second end side. The electrical connector also includes first and second mating regions that are defined by the first and second end sides, respectively. Each of the first and second mating regions includes electrical contacts and a guide feature, wherein at least some of the electrical contacts and the guide feature are aligned with one another.

Electrical connector having integrated guide element

A card edge connector is provided for mounting to a printed circuit board (PCB). The card edge connector includes a housing having a mating side, a mounting side, and a card slot that extends into the mating side. The card edge connector also includes first and second contacts held by the housing. The first and second contacts include mounting segments that extend outwardly from the mounting side of the housing. The mounting segments include mounting interfaces. The mounting segments of the first and second contacts are configured to be electrically connected to corresponding contact pads on the PCB at the mounting interfaces. The mounting interface of the first contact is offset from the mounting interface of the second contact in a direction generally away from mounting side of the housing.

Card edge connector

A power connector including a connector housing having an interior cavity and a mating face. The connector housing is configured to be mounted to a circuit board. The power connector also includes a contact assembly that has anode and cathode contacts that are configured to electrically engage power contacts of a mating connector. The contact assembly also includes anode and cathode terminals that are disposed in the interior cavity. The anode and cathode terminals are electrically coupled to the anode and cathode contacts, respectively, and are configured to be electrically coupled to the circuit board. The power connector also includes a power cable that has substantially flat anode and cathode conductive layers that are surrounded by an insulative jacket. The anode and cathode conductive layers are electrically coupled to the anode and cathode contacts, respectively, and are electrically parallel to the anode and cathode terminals, respectively.

Power connectors and electrical connector assemblies and systems having the same

A straddle mount connector includes a housing that has a mating end and a mounting end configured to be mounted to an edge of a circuit board. Contacts are held by the housing with the contacts extending from the mounting end that are configured to be terminated to the circuit board. The contacts are arranged at the mating end and are configured for mating with a corresponding mating component. A comb extends from the mounting end of the housing that has a plurality of fingers separated from one another by a gap. The comb is positioned such that the fingers are positioned between corresponding contacts and the contacts are positioned within corresponding gaps.

Straddle mount connector

A straddle mount connector includes a housing that has a mating end and a mounting end configured to be mounted to an edge of a circuit board. The housing has a top and a bottom. The housing has an upper mounting feature extending from the mounting end proximate to the top and a lower mounting feature extending from the mounting end proximate to the bottom. The upper and lower mounting features are configured to extend into an opening through the circuit board to secure the housing to the circuit board. Contacts are held by the housing and extend from the mounting end and are configured to be terminated to both sides of the circuit board. The contacts are arranged at the mating end and are configured for mating with a corresponding mating component.

Mounting features for straddle mount connectors

A connector assembly includes a housing and a plurality of contacts. The housing has a plurality of channels that extend between a housing mating end and an opposing back end. The housing mating end is configured to mate with a mating connector. The contacts each have a plurality of contact mating ends and a plurality of contact mounting ends. Each of the contact mating ends extends through one of the channels and is configured to provide a plurality of electrical connections with the mating connector. The contact mounting ends of each contact are arranged in a group and configured to be mounted to a circuit board. The contact mating ends are separated from one another by a first pitch and the contact mounting ends within each group are separated from one another by a second pitch that is smaller than the first pitch.

Connector assembly with grouped contacts

A receptacle for an electrical connector assembly is provided and includes a housing having a contact retention portion for holding an electrical contact. The contact retention portion includes a connector face for engaging a plug assembly and a side proximate to the connector face. The receptacle also includes a guide post that is located adjacent to the side and extends along the side toward the connector face. The guide post includes a base and a tip. The guide post also has a curved contour and a planar side that extend from the base to the tip.

Electrical connector assembly

A low profile, high power electrical connector assembly is disclosed. The connector assembly includes a plug and a receptacle connector designed to be mounted on separate printed circuit boards. The plug and receptacle connectors are designed to be mated and thus allow the separate circuit boards to be electrically connected in tandem in either the same plane or perpendicular to one another. The connector assembly includes a plug contact and a receptacle contact provided with cooling slots and an at least partially open rear face configured to permit the dissipation of heat.

Low profile high current power connector with cooling slots

A connector family that has a central housing having a connector mating face and a board mounting interface. An outer shell is shaped to fit over the central housing. The outer shell at least partially encloses the board mounting interface and exposes the connector mating interface of the central housing. The outer shell has a cable interface that is configured to be joined to a cable. Contacts are held in the central housing. The contacts, central housing and outer shell are used in different configurations depending upon the application. In a first application, the outer shell is mounted over the central housing to form a first configuration. In a second application, the outer shell is removed to expose the board mounting interface on the central housing to form a second configuration.

Modular connector family for board mounting and cable applications

A multi-beam power contact is provided including a main body and a plurality of at least three beams, which may be grouped in beam pairs, extending from the main body. The beams are adapted for mating with a mating connector, and the beams comprise contact areas adapted for electrical connection with the mating connector. Additionally, the multi-beam power contact may optionally include at least one initial contact beam and at least one non-initial contact beam. The initial contact beam is arranged to electrically connect to the mating connector before the non-initial contact beam electrically connects while the multi-beam power contact is being mated.

A connector assembly is provided with a floatable mounting apparatus formed thereon to enable the connector assembly to correct for misalignment between mounting structures. The connector assembly includes a connector housing having peripheral surfaces with an outer contour shaped to loosely fit in an inner contour of a mounting structure, such as a card, panel, circuit board, bulk head, rack assembly and the like. The connector housing is slidably inserted into the opening through the mounting structure. A chamber is provided in the connector housing adapted to securely retain contacts. At least one latch beam is formed with the connector housing and aligned to engage the mounting structure. A float gap is located between the inner contour of the opening through the mounting structure and the outer contour of the connector housing to enable relative movement therebetween. Guide pins are provided on a receptacle connector and guide pockets are provided on a plug connector to facilitate alignment therebetween during a mating operation. At least one of the receptacle and plug connectors are provided with a pattern of contact receiving cavities therein, in which the cavities are formed in staggered overlapping rows to afford a compact connector envelope while enabling large blades and large wire gauges to be used.

An electrical connector having improved cooling is provided. The electrical connector has a housing having at least one mating surface defined on a first plane and a surface defined on a second plane, where the first and second plane are perpendicular to each other. At least one passageway is defined by the mating surface and adapted to receive at least one contact. At least one vent is defined by the surface and adapted to create turbulent airflow in an interior chamber.
