Determining functional status of immune cells types and immune response

Disclosed is a system, a kit, a use and an in vitro method for assessing whether a human patient suffering from periodontitis has mild periodontitis or advanced periodontitis. The system and method are based on the insight to apply a clustering technique to a reference set of patient data, and then further discriminating the sets of bio markers to be applied. The clusters are determined on the basis of the biomarkers Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF), Matrix metalloproteinase 8 (MMP8), and Matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9). The actual classification of the patient is done on the basis of the measurement of the concentrations of either of two sets of biomarkers. For one cluster these are Interleukin-1β (IL1β), Interleukin-6 (IL6), and Collagen Telopeptide. For the other cluster, these are HGF and metallopeptidase inhibitor 1 (TIMP1).

Classification of periodontitis patients

Disclosed is an in vitro method for assessing whether a human patient suffering from periodontitis has mild periodontitis or advanced periodontitis. The method is based on the insight to determine a selection of three biomarker proteins. Accordingly, in a sample of saliva a patient suffering from periodontitis, the concentrations are measured of the proteins Interleukin-1β (IL-1β), Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and at least one of the proteins: Interleukin-6 (IL-6), and Matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3). Based on the concentrations as measured, a value is determined reflecting the joint concentrations for said proteins. This value is compared with a threshold value reflecting in the same manner the joint concentrations associated with advanced periodontitis. The comparison allows assessing whether the testing value is indicative of the presence of advanced periodontitis or of mild periodontitis in said patient. Thereby, typically, a testing value reflecting a joint concentration below the joint concentration reflected by the threshold value is indicative for mild periodontitis in said patient, and a testing value reflecting a joint concentration at or above the joint concentration reflected by the threshold value, is indicative for advanced periodontitis in said patient.

Diagnostics of mild or advanced periodontitis based on salivary IL-1BETA and MMP-9

A system and computer program are provided for computer aided diagnosis or monitoring of heart failure patients. The system and computer program obtain patient data representing measurements of a select and limited set of health indicators of a patient. A trained classifier is applied to the patient data to obtain a classification of the occurrence or degree of heart failure for the patient. The limited set of health indicators is specifically selected from a large set of health indicators which are known to be predictive of heart failure on the basis of a clinical study which demonstrated the accuracy of the classification using this select set.

Computer aided diagnosis and monitoring of heart failure patients

Methods and apparatus for information management and control of outdoor lighting networks

The present invention provides a support system for supporting the commissioning of a networked power distribution system (). The networked power distribution system comprises at least one power supply () with one or more power connectors () for supplying power to the one or more power connectors and a data communication interface for exchanging communication data. The support system () comprises one or more load device detectors () for detecting the connecting and/or disconnecting of a load device () to/from a power connector (), and a commissioning tool () for performing steps of commissioning the networked power distribution system with regard to the load device. The commissioning tool is adapted to automatically perform at least some of the commissioning steps in response to the detection of the connecting and/or disconnecting of the load device. This can allow for a relatively easy commissioning of the networked power distribution system.

Supporting the commissioning of a networked power distribution system

The invention relates to a DC power distribution system for distributing DC power to one or several electrical devices. The system comprises an electrical device () for receiving DC power via an electrical conductor () from a power supply device () with a power supply control unit () and for transmitting a signal to the power supply control unit for requesting a lower power or a higher power. The power supply device is operable in a high power mode and in a low power mode, wherein the power supply control unit controls the power mode of the power supply device depending on the received signal. This allows adapting the power supply to the power, which is actually really needed in the DC power distribution system, in a technically relatively simple way. Particularly standby situations can be handled more efficiently.

DC power distribution system

The invention relates to a DC power distribution system for distributing DC power from a power supply device () to an electrical device (). The power supply device is operable in a high power mode or in a low power mode for supplying a higher power or a lower power, respectively, to the electrical device via an electrical conductor (), wherein the electrical device is switchable between a high power mode and a low power mode in which the electrical device consumes more power or less power, respectively. An electrical device control unit () controls the mode of the electrical device depending on the power supplied by the power supply device. This automatic control of the electrical device depending on the provided power can lead to a better balance between the power consumption and the power supply and, thus, to an improved efficiency of supplying power to the electrical device.

Methods and apparatus for facilitating a process of designing, selecting, and/or customizing lighting effects or lighting shows. A library of indexed (tagged) predefined lighting effects or shows is searched by a search engine, based upon information provided by a user/designer, to identify a set of effects or shows having attributes that are in some way related to the information provided by the user. The user is then presented with search results, i.e., a manageable subset of intelligently chosen lighting effects or shows, which may be ranked in terms of relevance, any one or more of which may be readily selected by the user. The user may select one or more effects or shows from the search results 'as is' for execution by a lighting system, may combine one or more effects or shows from the search results, or may modify one or more effects or shows from the search results to refine some aspect of the effect(s)/show(s) in accordance with user preferences. In one exemplary implementation, the library of lighting effects/shows and/or the search engine may be hosted by a web site and accessible via the Internet.
