A computing device having partitions, and a method of communicating between partitions, are disclosed wherein at least one partition comprises: at least one register substantially always accessible to other partitions and capable of defining an address area; at least one address area that may be accessible to other partitions and is capable of being defined by the at least one register; and address areas other than the at least one accessible address area that are not accessible to other partitions. A method of processing interrupts comprising receiving an interrupt, assessing the origin of the interrupt, accepting, rejecting, or further assessing the interrupt, depending on its origin, when further assessing the interrupt, accepting or rejecting the interrupt depending on its contents, and forwarding accepted interrupts but not rejected interrupts to a target processor, and a device carrying out that method are also disclosed.

Non-inclusive cache systems and methods are provided. In one embodiment a non-inclusive cache system is provided comprising a non-inclusive cache and a cache agent that receives a request for access to the non-inclusive cache and denies the request for access to the non-inclusive cache if the non-inclusive cache system exceeds a predetermined level of activity.

A system may comprise a condition detection system that includes change circuitry configured to detect a change for at least one predetermined bit of an N-bit bus, where N is a positive integer, and to provide a corresponding change signal indicative of the detected condition. Match circuitry is configured to detect a match condition for up to a selected subset of predetermined bits of the N-bit bus and to provide a corresponding match signal indicative of the detected condition. Selection circuitry is programmable to provide a selected one of the change signal and the match signal as a corresponding output signal.

Circuitry and method to detect conditions of data

A logging system comprising counting logic adapted to generate a raw timestamp. The system further comprises encoding logic coupled to the counting logic and adapted to insert a group of bits of the raw timestamp into a predetermined timestamp template to produce an encoded timestamp. The template is selected based on a position of a most significant bit of the raw timestamp.

One embodiment of a system may comprise a packet generator that builds a response packet associated with a request for a data structure based on a tag portion of the data structure. Transferring cache line ownership between processors in a shared memory multi-processor computer system. A request for ownership of a cache line is sent from a requesting processor to a memory unit. The memory unit receives the request and determines which one of a plurality of processors other than the requesting processor has ownership of the requested cache line. The memory sends an ownership recall to that processor. In response to the ownership recall, the other processor sends the requested cache line to the requesting processor, which may send a response to the memory unit to confirm receipt of the requested cache line. The other processor may optionally send a response to the memory unit to confirm that the other processor has sent the requested cache line to the requesting processor. A copy of the data for the requested cache line may, under some circumstances, also be sent to the memory unit by the other processor as part of the response.

Cache line ownership transfer in multi-processor computer systems

In a computerized distributed mail system, a plurality of client computers are connected to each other via a network. Each client computer is configured to execute client mail application programs. A mail service system is also connected to the network. The system is for executing server mail programs on server computers. The mail service system includes an index server for storing mail messages in message files, and for storing a full-text index of the mail messages. In addition, the system includes means for accessing the mail messages by the plurality of client computers by searching the full-text index using queries.

Web-based electronic mail server apparatus and method using full text and label indexing

In a computer implemented method an address book is dynamically generated in a distributed mail service system. The distributed mail service system includes a plurality of client computers connected to a mail service system via a network. Mail messages are stored in message files of the mail service system. Each mail message is parsed and indexed to generate a full-text index of the mail service system. An address book mail message is generated, each address book mail message including address information. The address book mail messages are stored in the message files, and parsed and indexed into the full-text index file. A query is composed using a particular one of the plurality of client computer systems to search the full-text index to locate and retrieve selected ones of the address book mail messages as the dynamic address book.

A computer implemented method for filtering mail messages in a distributed computer system. The distributed mail service system includes a plurality of client computers connected to a mail service system via a network. Mail messages are stored in message files of the mail service system. Each mail message is parsed and indexed to generate a full-text index of the mail service system. A query is composed, the query includes terms and operators. The query is stored in the mail service system as a named filter query. A new mail message received by the mail service system is parsed, indexed and searched to determine if the content of the new mail message does not match on the named filter query, in which case an inbox label and an unread label to the new mail message.

Method for filtering mail messages for a plurality of client computers

In a computerized method for labeling data records, data records are received in an index server. The records are parsed into words, and the words are stored in a full-text index. Labels are added to the data records and the full-text index. The data records are accessed by searching the full-text index using queries including the words and the labels of the data records. Labels can be removed from the full-text index.

Method and apparatus for organizing and accessing electronic mail

A computer implemented method for down-loading mail messages in a distributed computer system. The distributed mail service system includes a plurality of client computers connected to a mail service system via a network. Mail messages are stored in message files of the mail service system, a particular mail message includes a primary component encoded in a first format, and at least one secondary component encoded in a second format different than the first component. The particular mail message is requested by a particular one of the plurality of client computer systems. The secondary component is replaced with a hot-link. The primary component and the hot-link are sent to the particular client computer.
