A system, computer product and method is provided for PKI enabled data communication at a browser. A PKI enabled browser is loaded one or more network-connected device. The PKI enabled browser requests a web page from a web server. The web page is downloaded to the PKI enabled browser. The PKI enabled browser includes a PKI operation module which conducts one or more PKI operations corresponding to the particular web page downloaded. These operations may include encrypting data, decrypting data, authenticating data, or verifying digital signatures. The invention permits PKI enabled posting of data to a remote computer, including from a wireless device, as well as PKI enabled retrieval of data at a computer from a remote computer, including at a wireless device. The PKI enabled browser of the invention is supported by a web server that includes a web application that facilitates PKI enabled data transactions at the PKI enabled browser. The inventions supports persistent PKI enablement, as well as field level encryption of data throughout the PKI transaction.

System, method and computer product for PKI (public key infrastructure) enabled data transactions in wireless devices connected to the internet

A system for encrypting and decrypting messages using a browser in either a web or wireless device or secure message client software for transmission to or from a web server on the Internet connected to an email server or message server for the situation where the sender does not possess the credentials and public key of the recipients. The encryption and decryption is conducted using a standard web browser on a personal computer or a mini browser on a wireless device, or message client software on either a personal computer or wireless devices such that messages transmitted to the web or wireless browser or message client software can be completed and encrypted and signed by the user such that encrypted and signed data does not require credentials and public key of the recipients. A method for delivering and using private keys to ensure that such keys are destroyed after use is also provided. A method of transmitting encrypted messages to a web or wireless browser or message client and decrypting and verifying such messages by recipients who do not possess or who are not enrolled in a PKI and do not have private keys. A method for authenticating the sender/user of the browser, and a method for accessing or generating public and private keys for encrypting and decrypting messages for recipients who are not enrolled in a public key infrastructure.

An encryption/decryption system for providing restricted use of each key in a plurality of keys to preserve confidentiality of the plurality of keys. Each key is usable by an associated user in a public key infrastructure to encrypt and decrypt data. The encryption/decryption system comprises a key storage means for storing a plurality of keys, user authentication means for determining whether a prospective user of a key in the plurality of keys is the associated user of the key, and an encryption/decryption means for encrypting and decrypting data using the plurality of keys when the user authentication means authenticates the prospective user. The encryption/decryption means is operable in a browser on a client computer.
