A method for enhanced transducer fault detection including receiving data characterizing an electrical signal generated by a transducer, and determining that the received data is outside of a predetermined operational range of the transducer. The method can also include determining a period of time that the received data remains outside of the operational range, and comparing the period of time to a predetermined fault time delay. The method can also include determining that the period of time that the data remains outside of the operational range is greater than or equal to the predetermined fault time delay, and determining that the data is invalid, responsive to determining that the period of time is greater than or equal to the predetermined fault time delay. The method can also include determining a fault case from a plurality of fault cases based on the invalid received data, and providing the determined fault case.

Enhanced transducer fault detection

Systems, methods, and devices for monitoring operation of industrial equipment are disclosed. In one embodiment, a monitoring system is provided that includes a passive backplane and one more functional circuits that can couple to the backplane. Each of the functional circuits that are coupled to the backplane can have access to all data that is delivered to the backplane. Therefore, resources (e.g., computing power, or other functionality) from each functional circuits can be shared by all active functional circuits that are coupled to the backplane. Because resources from each of the functional circuits can be shared, and because the functional circuits can be detachably coupled to the backplane, performance of the monitoring systems can be tailored to specific applications. For example, processing power can be increased by coupling additional processing circuits to the backplane.

Monitoring system with bridges for interconnecting system elements

A flexible monitoring system and corresponding methods of use are provided. The system can include a base containing backplane, and one or more monitoring circuits. The monitoring circuits can be designed with a common architecture that is programmable to perform different predetermined functions. As a result, monitoring circuits can be shared between different implementations of the flexible monitoring system. Multiple bases that can be communicatively coupled in a manner that establishes a common backplane between respective bases that is formed from the individual backplanes of each base. Each monitoring circuit is not limited to sending data to and/or receiving data from the backplane to which it is physically coupled but can instead can communicate along the common backplane. Computational processing capacity can be increased or decreased independently of input signals received by addition or removal of processing circuits from the monitoring system.

Monitoring systems for industrial machines having dynamically adjustable computational units

A method for determining and providing signal displays is provided. The method can include receiving data characterizing signal values. The data can be received from a sensor monitoring an asset, such as a rotating machinery asset. The method can also include receiving data characterizing a threshold trigger level associated with the asset. The method can further include determining a signal display for the asset. The method can also include providing the signal display in a graphical user interface. Monitoring systems for monitoring industrial assets and providing signal displays corresponding to an operation of the industrial assets are also provided.

In one embodiment, a condition monitoring circuit can include a circuit controller and a node. The node can include a gate controller, a node controller and one or more gates. The node can be configured to detachably couple to a bus of a monitoring system associated with an industrial machine. The circuit controller can be configured to identify an operating parameter associated with the industrial machine. The gate controller can be configured to transfer, via the one or more gates, one or more data packets including data characterizing the operating parameter from the bus in the monitoring system. The one or more gates can be configured to prevent transfer of an outgoing data packet to the bus via the node.

Flexible condition monitoring of industrial machines

A flexible monitoring system and corresponding methods of use are provided. The system can include a base containing backplane, and one or more circuits communicatively coupled to the backplane. The circuits can be designed with a common architecture that is programmable to perform different predetermined functions, such as input, output, and processing. By separating functions of the flexible monitoring system into different circuits, new implementations of the flexible monitoring system can be rapidly developed by arranging already created components in different combinations. Multiple bases can also be communicatively coupled in a manner that establishes a common backplane between respective bases. Accordingly, implementations of the flexible monitoring system distribute combinations of circuits across different bases, providing flexible deployment options.

Flexible and scalable monitoring systems for industrial machines

A system includes a secure data interface system. The secure data interface system includes a one-way communications interface configured to communicatively couple to a monitoring and protection system to receive data transmitted by the monitoring and protection system, and a processor configured to derive at least one measurement based on the data. The secure data interface system further includes a two-way communications interface configured to communicate the measurement to an external system, wherein the monitoring and protection system is configured to monitor operations of a machinery.

Secure systems and methods for machine monitoring

In one embodiment, a portable monitoring system can include a secondary bus and a first monitoring circuit detachably coupled to the secondary bus. The first monitoring circuit can be configured to receive, from a first bus via a node comprising one or more gates, a first beacon packet of a monitoring system of an industrial machine. The first beacon packet can include a first system frame schedule indicative of a plurality of time slices during which a plurality of data packets can be configured to be broadcasted on the first bus of the monitoring system. The first monitoring circuit can also be configured to determine, a first set of time slices of the plurality of time slices during which a first set of data packets including data characterizing one or more predetermined operating parameters are broadcasted on the first bus. The first monitoring circuit can be further configured to transfer the first set of data packets from the first bus to the first monitoring circuit by activating the one or more gates in the node during a first set of time slices of the plurality of time slices. The one or more gates are configured to prevent transfer of an outgoing data packet to the first bus.

Integration of diagnostic instrumentation with machine protection system

A system includes a machinery protection monitoring system. The machinery protection monitoring system includes a memory configured to store a plurality of alarm escalation rules associated with an operational protection function of an industrial machine, and a processor communicatively coupled to the memory and configured to utilize the plurality of alarm escalation rules. The processor is also configured to receive an indication that the operational protection of the industrial machine is at least partially suspended, compare the measurement of the one or more operational parameters to at least one of the plurality of alarm escalation rules, and generate an alarm signal based at least in part on whether the at least one of the plurality of alarm escalation rules is satisfied. The alarm signal includes an indication of an adverse operational condition of the machinery protection monitoring system.

Systems and methods for monitoring protection devices of an industrial machine

A protection monitoring system is provided that includes a protection fault handler. The protection fault handler includes a protection fault indicator. The protection fault handler is configured to activate the protection fault indicator upon indication of a protection fault signal. Moreover, the protection fault signal is indicative of a critical fault which has occurred in a protection system monitored by the protection monitoring system. The protection monitoring system also includes a user inhibit handler. The user inhibit handler includes a user inhibit indicator. Moreover, the user inhibit handler is configured to activate the user inhibit indicator upon indication of a user inhibit signal. Furthermore, the user inhibit signal is indicative of a user-enabled alarm inhibit or a user-enabled bypass.
