A brake control system of the present disclosure includes an accelerometer coupled to an axle. A brake control unit is configured to receive an axle acceleration signal indicative of an axle acceleration from the accelerometer, and decrease a braking command pressure in response to the axle acceleration being greater than a threshold acceleration value.

Systems and methods for low speed braking operation

A brake actuator system may comprise a brake actuator comprising a ball screw, a ball nut coupled to the ball screw, and a ram coupled to a ram end of the ball nut; a position sensor coupled to the brake actuator; a processor in electronic communication with the brake actuator and the position sensor; and a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the processor, the tangible, non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations. The operations may comprise commanding the brake actuator to translate the ball nut in a first direction toward a brake stack; detecting the pusher reaching a furthest forward position; and commanding the brake actuator to translate the ball nut in a second direction opposite the first direction for a predetermined retraction distance.

Brake position system

An electro-hydrostatic brake system includes a motor controller configured to receive a brake command, a motor in electronic control communication with the motor controller, and a pump mechanically coupled to the motor. In various embodiments, the electro-hydrostatic brake system further includes a hydraulic tank fluidly coupled in fluid providing communication with the pump, a hydraulic pressure rail fluidly coupled in fluid receiving communication with the pump, and a brake actuator in fluid communication with the hydraulic pressure rail and configured to exert a braking force on a wheel, wherein the braking force is directly modulated by the motor and/or the pump.

A brake actuator system may comprise a brake actuator comprising a ball screw, a ball nut coupled to the ball screw, and a ram coupled to a ram end of the ball nut; a position sensor coupled to the brake actuator; a processor in electronic communication with the brake actuator and the position sensor; and/or a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the processor, the tangible, non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations. The operations may comprise commanding the brake actuator to translate the ball nut in a first direction toward a brake stack; detecting the ram reaching a furthest forward position; and commanding the brake actuator to translate the ball nut in a second direction opposite the first direction for a total retraction distance.

A brake monitoring and adjustment control system includes an electromechanical brake actuator controller (EBAC) and at least one sensor operatively connected to the EBAC. The sensor is configured to sense a characteristic of a brake and provide a feedback signal to the EBAC. The system includes a switch for turning power to the sensor on and off to reduce the duration with voltage applied to the sensor. Reducing the duration in which voltage is applied to the sensor reduces power consumption and assists with mitigating electro-migration growth.

Electro-mechanical braking monitoring systems and methods

A method for fault detection and accommodation for a controller and actuator system is provided. The method includes receiving, from a controller, a flag at an actuator in response to an excitation voltage and current falling below a threshold value, engaging a sensor in the actuator in response to receiving the flag, receiving, using the sensor a first load cell signal and a second load cell signal in response to the sensor being engaged, determining how actuator is operating brake based on the received flag, first load cell signal, and second load cell signal, adjusting a state of the actuator based on the determination, and reporting the state of the actuator by transmitting a report signal to the controller.

Force feedback fault detection and accommodation for a multi-channel electric brake actuator controller

An example system includes a slave processor and a master processor. The master processor is configured to communicate with the slave processor over a digital communication link in a first mode, and over an analog communication link in a second mode. A method is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for communication between master and slave processors

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for multiple brake actuator operation under load cell failure. In various embodiments, a system for multiple brake actuator operation comprises a controller, a load cell in communication with the controller, a current sensor in communication with the controller, and a position sensor in communication with the controller and configured to measure a rotational speed of a motor shaft.

Systems and methods for brake actuator operation under load cell failure

Controller is provided for electromechanical actuator such as an electric brake actuator having a motor driven in response to motor drive signal generated by controller. Controller includes first current limiter and second current limiter. First current limiter limits current command to maximum current limit in response to detecting that current command at least one of exceeds maximum current limit setpoint or is less than minimum current limit setpoint. Second current limiter further limits current and to limited current command in response to detecting that current command exceeds topper current detection limit for specified time duration. Controller may further include intermediate current limiter between first and second current limiters for further limiting current command from first current limiter in response to detecting current command from first current limiter at least one of exceeds maximum power limit setpoint or is less than minimum power limit setpoint.

Electrical actuator systems and methods for limiting force in the event of a wiring harness failure

A circuit card is disclosed. The circuit card may have a strain relief aperture and a conductor contact. A conductor may extend through the strain relief aperture and connect in electrical continuity with the conductor contact. The circuit card may have a conformal coating, such as poly(p-xylylene) polymer applied. The conformal coating may be applied in layers, and the layers may have different thicknesses.

An interface circuit for a bridge sensor has a switch that connects to a resistive bridge circuit. The resistive bridge circuit includes a first input terminal, a second input terminal, and a pair of resistive branches that connect between the first and second input terminals. Both of the resistive branches include an output terminal. The switch is connected to the first input terminal and is in series with both resistive branches for connecting and disconnecting a voltage source from the resistive branch output terminals.

The system may include the step of detecting, by a controller, a failure of a first load cell of a first electromechanical brake actuator (EBA). The method may further comprise estimating, by the controller, a force of the first EBA using a force output from a second load cell, and commanding, by the controller, the first EBA in response to the estimated force of the first EBA.
