A marine vessel that possesses a capability for greater speed than most static-lift craft and is more stable than most dynamic-lift craft is disclosed. The vessel incorporates elements from both SWATH craft and WIG craft. In the illustrative embodiment, the marine vessel includes an upper hull that is disposed above the water line, a dynamic-lift-providing element that is disposed above the water line, a propulsion system that is disposed above the water line, a static-lift-providing element that is disposed below the water line, a propulsion system that is disposed below the water line; and struts that couple the static-lift-providing element to the upper hull and that raise the upper hull some distance above the water line.

Stable, high-speed marine vessel

A UAV capture system is disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, the UAV capture system is coupled to the deck of a sea-faring vessel. The UAV capture system includes a single arresting line that is supported by a stanchion. In the illustrative embodiment, the stanchion is disposed on a rotatable boom.

UAV recovery system

A UAV arresting hook is disclosed. The arresting hook facilitates the capture of a UAV via a UAV recovery system. In the illustrative embodiment, the arresting hook has a rotation block, an arm, and a plurality of latches that are disposed on the arm. The arm is coupled to the UAV via the rotation block, which provides two rotational degrees of freedom to the arm. In a stowed position, the arm is flush against the surface of the UAV. To deploy the arm, a free end of the arm is rotated away from the surface of the UAV. The arm is additionally biased to rotate about its longitudinal axis as it rotates away from the surface of the UAV. This rotation positions the latches to capture an arresting line that is part of a UAV recovery system.

UAV arresting hook for use with UAV recovery system

A chassis for circuit cards has a housing, a front end, a connector end, and a top cover. The housing has an airflow slot on its underside, and the top cover is open in nature, the combination of which allows the flow of forced convection air from top to bottom (or vice versa) to cool the circuit cards. The connector end has alignment pins which assist in blind mating of the chassis in difficult to access areas. Stabilizer rods, spacers and spacer brackets, made from stainless steel, hold the circuit cards in place and protect them from shock, vibration, and other trauma. The front end has a jacking type screw which enables one to exert sufficient pressure so that the greater than 200 I/O pins at the connector end are easily forced into receiving sockets.
