A catheter assemblycomprises a catheterincluding a longitudinally extending wallwith inner and outer surfaces. The inner surface of the wall defines a boreextending longitudinally through the catheter defining a first lumenand a second lumen. At least one of the first and second lumens communicates with an opening in the outer surface of the wall at a distal end of the catheter. An elongated separatorincludes a longitudinally extending surface that at least partially defines the second lumen. The longitudinally extending surface of the separator is disposed asymmetrically relative to the bore when viewed in cross-section taken transverse to the longitudinal extent of the separator adjacent to a distal end of the separator. At least a portion of the separator is movable relative to the bore and the inner surface of the catheter wall.

Catheter assembly

A fluid distribution system for delivering fluid internally of a body comprises a hollow needle and an implantable access port. The needle has a tip with a predetermined shape. The access port includes (a) a housing that includes at least two fluid outlets, (b) a septum received in the housing, and (c) a valve member rotatable in the housing. The valve member includes valve fluid inlet and outlet openings and a valve inlet passage extending from the inlet opening to the outlet opening. The valve inlet passage has a shape complementary to the shape of the needle tip. The valve member is rotatable into (i) a first position in which the valve fluid outlet opening communicates with a first housing fluid outlet and (ii) a second position in which the valve fluid outlet opening communicates with a second housing fluid outlet.

System and method for delivering fluid internally of a patient's body

A convection enhanced delivery device comprises a support member and an elongated microcatheter carried by the support member. The microcatheter projects lengthwise away from the support member. The microcatheter includes a catheter lumen extending in a first direction. A fluid conduit carried by the support member. The fluid conduit includes a conduit lumen that extends in a second direction different than the first direction. The conduit lumen is in fluid communication with the catheter lumen. An inlet port and a connecting port are also carried by the support member. The inlet port is in fluid communication with the fluid conduit. The connecting port is separate from the inlet port and is in fluid communication with the fluid conduit. The connecting port is configured to engage an end portion of an external fluid conduit such that the external fluid conduit projects away from the connecting port and from the support member.

Convection enhanced delivery device and system

A catheter assembly comprises a first catheter including a wall with an inner surface at least partially defining a lumen. A second catheter is connected to the wall of the first catheter and is disposed outward of the inner surface of the wall. The second catheter is at least partially covered by a sheath portion of the first catheter. A first portion of the wall of the first catheter is made of a relatively low durometer elastomeric material and is relatively extensible. A second portion of the wall is formed of a relatively high durometer elastomeric material and is relatively inextensible.

A catheter assembly comprises a first catheter including a wall with an inner surface at least partially defining a lumen. A second catheter is connected to the wall of the first catheter and is disposed outward of the inner surface of the wall. The second catheter is at least partially covered by a sheath portion of the first catheter.
