A system and method for configuring a filter object for a controller area network is disclosed. The method includes determining, by a processor, a plurality of message identifiers of messages that are to be captured by a filter object. The method also includes performing factorization of a function that represents the plurality of message identifiers to generate a simplified function. The method also includes configuring at least one filter object based on the generated simplified function.

Method and system for configuring filter objects for a controller area network controller

A control and diagnosis methodology for an electronic module of a vehicle is presented here. In accordance with the disclosed method, at least one wake up event for a processor of the electronic module is performed during an inactive shutdown state of the vehicle. The at least one wake up event is initiated by a wake up timer of the electronic module. The method continues by logging, during the inactive shutdown state of the vehicle, wake up information associated with the at least one wake up event to obtain logged wake up information. The logged wake up information is analyzed during an active operating state of the vehicle to obtain a wake up diagnosis, and the method generates, during the active operating state of the vehicle, an output indicative of the wake up diagnosis.

Control and diagnosis of a controller wake up feature

A method of determining a current operating range of a transfer case includes continuously calculating current Combined Drive Ratio (CDR), and categorizing the current CDR into one of a pre-determined number of expected CDRs. Counters are used to track when the current CDR is identified as an expected CDR. The different counters are then analyzed using simple mathematical operations to identify which gear ratio the transfer case is currently operating in.

A control system for a vehicle includes a time determination module, a fuel age determination module, and an engine control module. The time determination module determines an engine off time, wherein the engine off time indicates an amount of time that an engine is off. The fuel age determination module determines an age of fuel in a fuel system of the engine. The engine control module starts the engine when one of the engine off time is greater than a predetermined time threshold and the age of the fuel is greater than a predetermined age threshold.

An engine control system having primary and secondary fuel tanks comprises a fuel monitoring module and a transfer pump (TP) diagnostic module. The fuel monitoring module determines a measured fuel level of the secondary fuel tank based on a fuel level signal received from a fuel level sensor when a fuel TP is on for greater than a predetermined time period required for the fuel TP to reduce the measured fuel level from a predetermined fuel level to below the predetermined fuel level. The TP diagnostic module diagnoses a condition of the fuel TP based on the measured fuel level.

A system for controlling a fan in a vehicle comprises an ambient temperature module that generates an ambient temperature enable signal when ambient temperature is within a vaporization window. An engine component monitoring module that generates a vaporization temperature enable signal when an engine component in an engine compartment has an estimated outer surface temperature that greater than a water vaporization temperature. A vehicle speed module generates a speed enable signal when the vehicle speed is less than a first vehicle speed. A fan turn-on module that selectively turns on a fan based on the temperature enable signal, the vaporization temperature enable signal and the speed enable signal.

A vehicle speed module includes a speed arbitration module that receives at least two of a wheel speed, a transmission output speed (TOS), and an electric motor speed (EMS), and that determines a vehicle speed based on a comparison of the at least two of the wheel speed, the TOS, and the EMS. A speed diagnostic module selectively diagnoses a fault in one of a wheel speed sensor, a TOS sensor, and an EMS sensor based on the comparison.

Accordingly, a control system for controlling a viscous clutch of a fan is provided. The control system includes a delta speed module that determines one of an over speed condition, an under speed condition, and a steady state condition based on a desired fan speed and an actual fan speed. A mode module determines a mode of the clutch based on the one of the over-speed condition, the under-speed condition, and the steady state condition, wherein the mode is one of a pump in mode, a pump out mode, and a closed loop mode. A valve control module that controls an operational state of the clutch valve based on the mode.
