This application provides reactive, flexible, water-resistant hydroxyethylpyrrolidone methacrylate/glycidyl methacrylate copolymers having the structure: wherein a and b are integers, the sum of which less than 100, covalently linked to active agents that are useful in a wide variety of compositions. The present application also discloses hydroxyethylpyrrolidonemethacrylate/glycidyl methacrylate copolymer convently linked to one or more surface active moiety having a structure: wherein a, b, and c are integers, the sum of which equals 100, and M is a surface-active moiety.

The present invention provides coating compositions for forming a toner coating and inkjet receptive coatings on a substrate containing a film forming polymer comprising (a) a monomer (monomer A) comprising at least one functionalized or unfunctionalized acryloyl moiety and at least one lactam moiety. (b) a N-vinyl amide monomer (monomer B), (c) an optional cross-linker (monomer B) and (d) a solvent. The coating compositions may further comprise an additional hydrophobic monomer moiety. The present invention further provides toner substrates and inkjet receptive substrates coated with the coating compositions. 

Coating compositions for forming toner coatings

This invention provides reactive, flexible, water-resistant hydroxyethylpyrrolidone methacrylate/glycidyl methacrylate copolymers, or hydroxyethylpyrrolidone methacrylate/glycidyl methacrylate/-(Methacroyloxyglyceryl-Cellulosic) block copolymers. This invention provides hydroxyethylpyrrolidone methacrylate/glycidyl methacrylate copolymers having the structure: wherein x and y are mole %, the sum equals to 100, and wherein said copolymer is prepared by precipitation polymerization. The copolymer is useful in a wide variety of compositions.

The invention provides non-aqueous compositions comprising film forming polymers comprising repeating units derived from: (a) at least one monomer comprising at least one functionalized or unfunctionalized acryloyl moiety and at least one lactam moiety; (b) at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of functionalized and unfunctionalized C-Calkyl (alk)acrylates, C-Calkyl (alk)acrylamides, and combinations thereof; and (c) at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of functionalized and unfunctionalized C-Calkyl (alk)acrylates, C-C(alk)alkyl acrylamides, and combinations thereof. The invention further provides applications of these compositions in various industrial arts, particularly in personal care. The invention furthermore provides water-resistant non-aqueous personal care compositions. Variables a, b and c are described herein. 

Non-aqueous compositions of polymers derived from monomers having acryloyl moiety and lactam moiety and applications thereof

UV-absorbing polymers are provided that have at least one anhydride repeating unit that is covalently attached to at least one UV-absorbing moiety selected from the group consisting of functionalized dibenzoylmethanes, benzophenone sulfonamides, triphenyl triazines, and combinations thereof. Also provided are formulations comprising the UV-absorbing polymers.

Vinyl lactam-derived polymers, compositions thereof having enhanced water-resistance, and methods of use thereof

The presently disclosed and claimed inventive concept(s) relates to a dry powder composition comprising water soluble polymer powders, and a component in powder form. The dry powder composition shows improved water dispersibility compared to the water soluble polymer powders. The presently disclosed and claimed inventive concept(s) further relates to an aqueous protective coating composition comprising the dry powder composition.

A post-treatment process for making a water-resistant polymeric composition which is inkjet printable, or in the form of a strongly-swellable gel, includes providing a stable, aqueous two-phase polymeric composition by the steps of forming a reaction mixture in a reaction vessel which includes a water-soluble vinyl monomer, optionally with one or more water-soluble comonomers, a first amount of a multi-vinyl crosslinking agent, and water, heating the mixture, then periodically adding a predetermined amount of a free radical initiator, and polymerizing the reaction mixture, optionally removing the resultant two-phase polymeric composition from the reaction vessel, adding a predetermined amount of a post-treatment crosslinker, optionally blending with a proteinaceous or other water compatible polymer material thereto, optionally coating the mixture onto a support, and optionally heating at room temperature or above, to increase the viscosity of the composition in a predetermined manner.

Copolymers of dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide and hydroxyethyl methacrylate having residual monomer levels of <2000 ppm and <500 ppm, respectively, are made by copolymerizing the monomers in a predetermined weight ratio in an aqueous-alcoholic solvent of defined composition. Substrates coated with these copolymers are capable of absorbing the solvents, e.g. water or organic solvents, of digital printing inks rapidly with dry times of <1 min.
