Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may be configured for carrier aggregation (CA) in which a plurality of component carriers (CCs) are aggregated. The UE may determine a mapping of the CCs to a plurality of antenna panels for downlink reception, wherein a subset of the CCs are mapped to each antenna panel. The UE may transmit, to the gNB, radio resource control (RRC) signaling that indicates information related to the mapping. The gNB may, based at least partly on the mapping, determine, for each CC: a first scheduled time period for transmit beam refinement, and a second scheduled time period for receive beam refinement at the UE.

Scenario adaptive downlink beam management scheduling

A method and apparatus for receive beam-forming in an analog domain. A user equipment may perform channel estimation for obtaining a set of channel responses for a plurality of antennas of the UE. The UE may determine a beamforming codeword for receive beamforming based on the set of channel responses. The UE may apply a training codeword to the received signal in analog domain. The training codeword includes phase adjustment coefficients for each antenna and a different training codeword may be applied for each channel observation. The UE may measure a metric for at least one candidate codeword based on the set of channel responses and determine the beamforming codeword based on the metric.

Method and apparatus for coherent receive beamforming

A communication device is provided including a receiver to receive a signal set. A first equalizer equalizes the signal set in accordance with a first equalization process taking into account that the signal set includes an inter cell interference signal, thereby generating a first equalized signal set.
