Hair styling and drying device

A hair styling device having a rotatable body portion, the body portion comprising a longitudinal axis about which the body rotates. The device has a plurality of projections extending outwardly from the body portion and two or more divider elements extending from the body portion. The device also has a handle attached to the body portion and a blower supported by the handle. The device has a first gas flow conduit in gas flow communication with the blower, the first conduit having a proximal portion supported by the body portion and a distal portion away from the body portion and a first nozzle in gas flow communication with the first conduit and oriented to blow air from the distal portion of the first conduit toward the body portion. Methods for using the hair styling device are described.

A hair styling tool having a plurality of bristles and one or more movable members extending radially outward from the core and movable between opposing positions is provided. The movable members move between a retracted position where the divider is fitted between and even with or slightly above or slightly below the bristles to engage the hair and an extended position where the divider is moved out beyond the bristles to disengage the hair from the bristles. The hair styling tool having the movable member which engages and disengages the hair with the bristles minimizes tangling of the hair while brushing. The hair styling tool may be a rotating brush optionally equipped with a motor.

A hair styling tool includes a body, a cylinder extending from the body, the cylinder rotatable relative to the body, a motor for rotating the cylinder, a heater to heat the cylinder, and a styling arm pivotally attached to the body. The hair styling tool may have a generally clam shell configuration, wherein the styling arm is movable between an open position in which the styling arm is distant the cylinder and a closed position in which the styling arm is proximate to the cylinder, such as contacting the cylinder. The styling arm may also include a brush head with fixed or retractable bristles and/or a smoothing plate.

A hair styling and drying apparatus has a pair of pivotally connected arms, styling surfaces on the arms, air suction and discharge orifices in the styling surfaces, and a blower for blowing air through the air orifices and recycling air between the arms. At least some suction orifices of one styling surface can align with at least some discharge orifices of the other styling surface. The blowers blow air out the discharge orifices and suck air into the suction orifices, thereby recycling much of the blown air. The apparatus can include heaters for heating the blown air and for heating the styling surfaces.

A hair styling device is described that has a handle, an elongated, substantially cylindrical, heatable rod providing a curling surface and supported by the handle, a heater for heating the curling surface, a support spaced apart from the curling surface, and a rotatable member rotatable relative to the curling surface for wrapping hair around and in contact with the curling surface. The device has an opening in the rotatable member for receiving a section of a user's hair, a motor for rotating the rotatable member, and a flexible, heat-resistant clamp supported by the support and extending from the support toward the curling surface for clamping hair against the curling surface.
