A bend radius control device for routing and maintaining at least a minimum bend radius of a cable. The bend radius control device includes an arcuate member having a channel and at least one holding portion. The holding portion is configured to hold the bend radius device to one or more cables inserted therein, while the channel is configured to support the one or more cables. A grommet may be used to with the holding portions to aid the holding portion in holding one or more cables inserted in the bend radius control device. The arcuate member has a bend radius that is greater than or equal to the minimum bend radius of one or more cables inserted therein. The bend radius control device is similar in size to a number of cables inserted therein and may be used in a space saving environment.

Bend radius control

A spool for holding cable is disclosed. The spool has an S shaped cable pathway for connecting a first circumferential cable pathway with a second circumferential cable pathway. In one embodiment, the spool includes an S shaped groove extending through the middle portion of the spool to define the S shaped cable pathway. In one embodiment, the radiuses of the arc pathways of the S shaped cable pathway are designed to meet the minimum bending requirements of the cable to be stored on the spool. In one embodiment, cable is stored in the spool by first inserting a middle portion of cable to be stored in the spool in S shaped cable pathway and then rotating the spool in a first direction.

Fiber optic cable spool

An apparatus for storing fiber optic cable including an add-on structure for holding fiber optic cable connectors that includes clips that are integral with the structure. In one example, the clips include two opposing prongs integrally connected to a panel of the structure. The add-on structure can be removably attached to a carrier of the apparatus that is used for storing fiber optic cable in a communications system such as a router. The connectors that terminate fiber optic cable legs stored in the carrier are secured to the clips of the add-on structure so as to prevent damage to the cable legs during the shipment of the carrier and cable legs. The add-on structures can also be used to secure the connectors in repair operations involving the cable legs and/or for shipping the panel and plurality of clips with connectors inserted therein to a use location.

A cable storage apparatus including a spool for holding cable. The spool having an S shaped cable pathway for connecting a first circumferential cable pathway with a second circumferential cable pathway. In one embodiment, cable is stored in the spool by first inserting a middle portion of cable to be stored in the spool in S shaped cable pathway and then rotating the spool in a first direction. The rotation causes a first portion of the cable to be rolled in the first circumferential cable pathway and a second portion of the cable to be rolled in the second circumferential cable pathway. The spool can be utilized to store fiber optic cable. In one example, the spool is attached to a fiber optic carrier for storing excess cable held in the carrier.

A cable storing apparatus including a device for storing communications cable such as fiber optic cable. The device includes a plurality of cable guide structures located on a panel. The cable guide structures define a plurality of cable storage pathways positioned in an outward progression from a hub. The cable can be individually stored in each cable storage pathway. In one example the cable guide structures include discontinuous wall structures with radial cable entry gaps for allowing cable to enter the cable storage pathways. The cable guide structures may also include posts located in the radial cable entry gaps for defining portions of the cable storage pathways and portions of the cable entry pathways leading towards the cable storage pathways. In one example, the cable storage pathways encircle the hub. The cable storage device can be implemented with an add-on structure utilized for shipment and installation of a fiber optic carrier.
