A composition is described comprising a ring opening metathesis polymerization catalyst or precatalyst thereof; and an unreactive dispersant having a viscosity at 25° C. of at least 10 Pa·sec at a shear rate of 1 1/sec. Also described is a cartridge (e.g. or a dispensing and mixing apparatus) comprising such composition. The cartridge typically comprises a first chamber comprising unpolymerized cyclic olefin; and a second chamber comprising the catalyst and dispersant. Also described are compositions including two-part compositions and methods of bonding a substrate.

An adhesive composition is described comprising at least one cyclic imide monomer comprising an unsaturated carbonyl. The adhesive composition is a polymerizable composition or a polymerized composition. The polymerizable adhesive composition may comprise at least one monomer, oligomer, polymer, or a combination thereof comprising ethylenically unsaturated groups and/or an epoxy resin. The cyclic imide monomer may comprise an imide group with an α, β-unsaturated carbonyl in a heterocyclic ring wherein the ring comprises at least 6 covalently bonded atoms. Also described are methods of forming an adhesive coated substrate and articles.

Adhesives comprising cyclic imide addition-fragmentation and adhesion agents

Provided are novel crosslinkers and curable compositions including such crosslinkers. Bonded constructions including the disclosed curable compositions display high adhesion, elongation, and impact resistance even if the bonded substrate receives no surface treatment prior to bonding. Provided are elastomeric products including the curable compositions, methods of making the same, and uses thereof.

Crosslinkers and curable compositions including the same

The present disclosure provides a two-part composition polymeric material including a first part and a second part. The first part includes an inorganic filler and a polymeric material including a polymerized reaction product of a polymerizable composition including components. The components include a uretdione-containing material including a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself; a first hydroxyl-containing compound; and an optional second hydroxyl-containing compound having a single OH group. The second part includes a polythiol having an average sulfhydryl group functionality of 2 or greater. Further, a method of adhering two substrates is provided, including obtaining a two-part composition; combining at least a portion of the first part with at least a portion of the second part to form a mixture; disposing at least a portion of the mixture on a first substrate; and contacting a second substrate with the mixture disposed on the first substrate. The disclosure also provides a polymerized product of the two-part composition and a battery module. Advantageously, two-part compositions can be used as coatings and adhesive systems including high loadings of inorganic filler, such as thermally conductive filler, with handling and performance similar to existing two-part urethane systems, but with less sensitivity to water.

Two-part compositions including a uretdione-containing material and inorganic filler, products, and methods

A composition is described comprising a cyclic olefin; a ring opening metathesis polymerization catalyst; and at least 40 wt. % of thermally conductive particles. The thermally conductive particles are selected such that the composition after curing has a thermal conductivity of at least 1W/M*K. In one embodiment, the thermally conductive particle comprises a combination of smaller and larger thermally conductive particles. In another embodiment, the thermally conductive particles comprise boron nitride particles. Also described are (e.g. structural) adhesives, methods of bonding and articles.

Compositions comprising cyclic olefins and thermally conductive filler

A curable composition includes a polyol component comprising one or more polyols: a functional butadiene component; and a thermally conductive filler. The thermally conductive filler is present in an amount of at least 20 wt. %, based on the total weight of the curable composition. The curable composition has, upon curing, a thermal conductivity of at least 0.5 W/(mK).

Curable compositions comprising polyol component, functional butadiene component, and thermally conductive filler, articles therefrom, and methods of making and using same

The present disclosure provides a polymeric material including a polymerized reaction product of a polymerizable composition including components, and a thermally activatable amine curative, and has a solids content of 90% or greater. The components include a uretdione-containing material including a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself; a first hydroxyl-containing compound; and an optional second hydroxyl-containing compound having a single OH group. The first hydroxyl-containing compound has more than one OH group and the optional second hydroxyl-containing compound is a primary alcohol or a secondary alcohol. The present disclosure also provides a two-part composition, in which a polymeric material is included in the first part and the second part includes at least one liquid amine. Further, a method of adhering two substrates is provided, including obtaining a two-part composition; combining at least a portion of the first part with at least a portion of the second part to form a mixture; disposing at least a portion of the mixture on a first substrate; and contacting a second substrate with the mixture disposed on the first substrate. The disclosure also provides a polymeric material and a method of curing a two-part composition. Advantageously, two-part compositions according to the present disclosure can be used as coatings and adhesive systems having a two-step cure with handling and performance similar to existing two-part urethane systems, but with less sensitivity to water.

Polymeric material including a uretdione-containing material and a thermally activatable amine, two-part compositions, and methods

The present disclosure provides a redox initiator system for initiating polymerization comprising an oxidizing agent, a photolabile reducing agent derived from a barbiturate, and a transition metal complex that participates in a redox cycle. On exposure to actinic radiation, such as UV, the photolabile compound photolyzes, releasing the reducing agent and initiating the redox-initiated polymerization.

A stretchable conductor includes a substrate with a first major surface, wherein the substrate is an elastomeric material. An elongate wire is on the first major surface of the substrate; the wire includes a first end and a second end, and further includes at least one arcuate region between the first end and the second end. At least one portion of the arcuate region of the wire in the region has a first surface area portion embedded in the surface of the substrate and a second surface area portion unembedded on the substrate and exposed in an amount sufficient to render at least an area of the substrate in the region electrically conductive. The unembedded second surface portion of the arcuate region may lie above or below a plane of the substrate. Composite articles including a stretchable conductor in durable electrical contact with a conductive fabric are also disclosed.

A thermally curable adhesive film, a tape, and a method of making the tape, wherein the film includes: a crosslinked (meth)acrylate matrix; and a thermally curable, one-part epoxy/thiol resin composition incorporated within the crosslinked (meth)acrylate matrix; wherein the thermally curable, one-part epoxy/thiol resin composition comprises: an epoxy resin component comprising an epoxy resin having at least two epoxide groups per molecule; a thiol component comprising a polythiol compound having at least two thiol groups; a nitrogen-containing catalyst for the epoxy resin; and an organic acid.

Adhesive film including a (meth)acrylate matrix including a curable epoxy/thiol resin composition, tape, and method

The composition includes an acrylic monomer having a carboxylic acid group, an acrylic monomer having a hydroxyl group, and a compound composed of divalent segments L and at least two X groups. The divalent segments L are represented by the formula Each divalent segment L is respectively directly bonded to two secondary N atoms, two tertiary N atoms, or a secondary and a tertiary N atom. Each Rrepresents an alkylene group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and at least some of the Rgroups are &#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;. Each X group is independently represented by the formula CH&#x2550;C(R)&#x2014;C(O)&#x2014;O&#x2014;V-W&#x2014;C(O)&#x2014;. The acrylic monomer having a carboxylic acid group is present in an amount of at least 20 percent by weight, based on the total weight of acrylic-functional compounds. Articles and a method of using the composition are also described.

The present disclosure provides a polymeric material including a polymerized reaction product of a polymerizable composition including components and has a solids content of 90% or greater. Polymeric material including a uretdione-containing material and an epoxy component, two-part compositions, and methods

A continuous method of manufacturing adhesives is provided. The method includes obtaining an actinic radiation-polymerizable adhesive precursor composition disposed on a major surface of an actinic radiation-transparent substrate and irradiating a first portion of the actinic radiation-polymerizable adhesive precursor composition through the actinic radiation-transparent substrate for a first irradiation dosage. The method further includes moving the actinic radiation-transparent substrate and irradiating a second portion of the actinic radiation-polymerizable adhesive precursor composition through the actinic radiation-transparent substrate for a second irradiation dosage. Optionally, the method also includes irradiating a third portion of the actinic radiation-polymerizable adhesive precursor composition through the actinic radiation-transparent substrate prior to moving the substrate. The first irradiation dosage and the third irradiation dosage are often not the same, thereby forming an integral adhesive having a variable thickness in an axis normal to the actinic radiation-transparent substrate.

A curable, one-part epoxy/thiol resin composition comprising: an epoxy resin component comprising an epoxy resin having at least two epoxide groups per molecule; a thiol component comprising a polythiol compound having at least two primary thiol groups; a nitrogen-containing catalyst for the epoxy resin; and a substituted barbituric acid soluble in the one-part epoxy/thiol resin composition.

The sum of the absolute value of the difference in the refractive index of the filler and the refractive index of the composition cured without filler plus the birefringence of the filler is 0.054 or less, i.e. 0.054&#x2265;|n&#x2212;n|+&#x3b4;, where nis the refractive index of the filler, nis the refractive index of the composition cured without filler, and &#x3b4;is the birefringence of the filler.
