A lighting system includes a first light assembly that is configured to emit light periodically. The lighting system further includes a second light assembly that is spaced apart from the first light assembly, the second light assembly also being configured to emit light periodically. The periodic light emitted by the first and second light assemblies is synchronized such that the first and second light assemblies operate in unison to form a single light source.

A magnet brake is disclosed. The magnet brake may consist of a stationary magnet assembly and a rotating magnet assembly. The opposing poles on the magnet assemblies have a mutual attraction that biases the assemblies into alignment with each other. The magnet brake may also be combined with Hall-effect switches to provide position and direction detection.

A landing light is provided for mounting on an aircraft. Electronic control devices actuate drive elements to pivot a lamphead over a range of operational positions. The electronic control device having a magnetic switch array actuated by magnets connected to the drive elements.

The present invention is an improved windshield wiper assembly. The assembly includes a wiper blade which undergoes oscillatory rotary motion and is swept back and forth between two extreme locations across a windshield to remove rain and other precipitation from the windshield. A brushless DC motor has its output shaft connected to the wiper assembly. The foregoing results in rotary oscillation of the blade and permits the elimination of the four-bar mechanism which is typical of prior art wiper assemblies. The rotary motion of the blade in either direction is decelerated when the blade reaches a preselected position between two extreme locations.
