A reader suitable for reading data from a printed memory device attached to a curved surface includes a flexible wiring assembly that can be repositioned from a first position having a first profile into a second position having a second profile. In the first position, electrical contacts of the reader do not electrically couple with contact pads of the printed memory device, while in the second position the electrical contacts of the reader electrically couple to the contact pads of the printed memory. In one implementation, the flexible wiring assembly includes a flexible underlayer that supports the plurality of electrical contacts. In another implementation, the flexible wiring assembly includes a rigid first portion and a rigid second portion that pivot about a pivot point.

Landing electrical contact

A grid connector for communicating with a printed memory includes a substrate and a plurality of first conductive pads coupled to the substrate. Each of the first conductive pads protrudes outward with respect to an outer surface of the substrate. A subset of the first conductive pads is configured to contact a second conductive pad of the printed memory, regardless of an orientation of the printed memory with respect to the grid connector as long as the second conductive pad is within a boundary of the first conductive pads.

A portable reader for performing an operation on an integrated circuit (IC) such as a printed memory. The portable reader comprises a body and a transparent head. The head is sufficiently transparent that the IC is visible through the transparent head. By detecting the IC through the transparent head, the portable reader may be aligned with the IC, and a contact module on the portable reader may be aligned and electrically coupled with contact pads on the IC.

Two thick film charging devices or a common thick film charge device with two separated obverse conductors, sharing a common power supply are used for photoreceptor charge and erase. The thick film charging devices use a set of AC biased electrodes supported on a dielectric material which also support a counter electrode on an opposite side of the dielectric. A DC offset applied to the counter electrodes is used to set photoreceptor charge level. One DC voltage is used for photoreceptor charge and a zero or near zero DC voltage is used to erase residual charge for the photoreceptor.

An Active Ozone Scrubber includes a low profile thick film device. The low profile thick film device is composed of films layered upon each other and built on a ceramic substrate. Each layer is screened upon the next with the active elements strategically placed in order to develop corona when energized. When activated, the corona developed within the channels of the upper layer creates heat and accelerates the chemical reaction with the ozone, thereby reducing the amount of ozone generated by a conventional charge/discharge system before it is exhausted by a machine into the environment.

A limited ozone generator transfer device includes a ceramic substrate having conducting lines, a dielectric layer, and a top conducting layer with slots therein that align with the underlying conducting lines. Corona is generated in the slots by applying an AC voltage of about 2.5 kVp-p across the electrodes. This device is 'green' in that it generates significantly less ozone than conventional transfer devices, thus reducing requirements on an ozone collection system.

A thick film charging device is used to simultaneously heat a photoreceptor as it is being charged in order to mitigate image quality defects associated with the photoreceptor in high humidity conditions.

There is provided a corona generating device for a printing machine, including a conductor; a frame for supporting the conductor; a cleaning assembly, within the frame, for cleaning the conductor, the cleaning assembly includes a cleaning carriage, a drive system for translating the cleaning carriage along the length of the conductor in a path of movement, the cleaning assembly further includes a cleaning pad, means for engaging a portion of the clean pad into contact with conductor, and means for translating the cleaning pad from an used portion to an unused portion of the cleaning pad.
