Methods and systems are described for using files or data (e.g., cookies) stored in network storage (e.g., the cloud) in lieu of files or data stored locally. A request for a plurality of files can be received from a device. The request can comprise a device identifier and a user identifier. The user identifier can be used to determine an associated account. A format for the requested plurality of files can be determined based on the device identifier. In an aspect, the device can have limited/no local persistent storage. Prior to transmission, the requested plurality of files can be formatted according to the determined format. For example, a user can access an HTML application from a device with limited/no local persistent storage, such as a set-top box. The device can request a plurality of files, such as cookies, from persistent storage. The persistent storage can be cloud storage.

Methods and systems for providing persistent storage

Methods and systems are described for providing conditional access to a service. One or more tasks may be associated with a user profile. The one or more tasks may be indicated as required to be completed to access the service. The one or more tasks may have associated deadlines. If a task is not completed by the deadline, then any device associated with the user profile may be blocked from access to the service.

The virtual environment may use a mesh to guide a user toward points of interest. Guiding may comprise haptic, visual, and/or audio cues and may also comprise moving the virtual environment around the user. Further, events may be triggered in the virtual environment that may change one or more meshes and/or create a new point of interest for a user.

Physical environment data may be determined for each XR device. Virtual play areas for each of the XR devices may be determined. The different virtual play areas may be fit into different areas of a predefined virtual play area, and/or may be combined to form a combined virtual play area. Each XR device might be provided a different portion of the virtual play area. The XR devices may be sent different virtual map positioning data to provide the group XR experience.

Future data connection quality may be predicted based on past data connection quality, and future requests for data may be predicted based on past requests. These predictions may be used to help decide whether, when, and/or how to deliver the data in a proactive manner. For example, according to some aspects described herein, a future data connection quality may be predicted based at least on historical data connection quality. It may be determined whether to pre-deliver at least a first portion of an item of content based at least on the predicted future data connection quality. A television program ratings method and system includes transferring information associated with households from a cable provider to a ratings provider such that the ratings provider has access to information associated with sampled households and lacks access to information associated with non-sampled households. To this end, identity information and usage information associated with the households are respectively anonymized and encrypted. Knowledge of the identities of the sampled households enables the anonymized identity information and the encrypted usage information for the sampled households to be respectively de-anonymized and decrypted. The ratings provider knows which households are sampled households. As such, the ratings provider de-anonymizes and decrypts the information associated with the sampled households and then uses the de-anonymized and decrypted information to determine television program ratings. The cable provider anonymizes and encrypts the information for all households as the cable provider does not know which households are sampled households.

In particular, a client router may connect to an upstream virtual gateway. The virtual gateway may manage a large number of client devices. Each client router may be represented virtually within the gateway as a virtual router. The virtual gateways may be distributed regionally, in order to manage large numbers of client routers and/or to reduce transmission delays. The virtual gateways may be managed by a gateway controller. The gateway controller may be centralized, and perform various configuration functions, such as configurations for hardware, logical networking, or content access policies. In some instances, messages sent between the gateway controller using a first protocol and the client router using a second protocol may be translated by a protocol agent.

If the device is authenticated, the wireless signal may be adjusted to provide power to the device.
