A lateral junction liner system may include a liner sleeve proximate to a junction between a lateral bore and a main bore of a well. The liner sleeve may be movable between a first position and a second position. The liner sleeve may separate an upper section of the main bore from a lower section of the main bore while in the first position. The lateral junction liner may further include a liner positioned at least partially within the lateral bore and in contact with the liner sleeve. The lateral junction liner system may also include a lock mechanism attached to the liner sleeve that, when enabled, retains the liner sleeve in the first position and that, when disabled, enables selective displacement of the liner sleeve from the first position to the second position.

A mechanically-set packer system for use in a wellbore may include a packer assembly. The packer assembly may include a first ring and a second ring. The packer assembly may also include a packing element positioned between the first ring and the second ring. The packer system may include a mandrel having an interior and an exterior. The packer assembly may be configured to slide onto the exterior of the mandrel. The packer system may further include a line configured to run between the exterior of the mandrel and an interior of the packing element.

A diverting system includes, a first tubular, a second tubular receptive to the first tubular having at least one lateral extending therefrom, the first tubular is runnable into the second tubular as well as into the at least one lateral, an engaging device in operable communication with both the first tubular and the second tubular, and a diverting tool in operable communication with the engaging device configured to selectively divert the first tubular into the at least one lateral.

A method of running a first tubular within a second tubular includes running the first tubular into the second tubular past at least one lateral extending from the second tubular, running a diverting tool at the first tubular with the running of the first tubular, withdrawing the first tubular from the second tubular until an end of the first tubular is beyond a junction between the at least one lateral and the second tubular and, running the first tubular into the at least one lateral.

The cementing of the casing takes place through the barrier sleeve. After the cementing, the sleeve and nose are drilled out and the incompressible material is removed to the surface with the drill cuttings. A liner is inserted in the casing and is preferably expanded into sealing contact.

One trip cemented expandable monobore liner system and method

An apparatus for generating seismic body waves in a hydrocarbon reservoir includes a closed-loop borehole source having a resonant cavity for generating resonant energy, a drive source and a control unit. The drive source injects pressure pulses to the resonant cavity at a predetermined or selectable pressure and frequency. The fluid circulates between the cavity and the drive source in a closed-loop fashion. In another embodiment, the borehole source utilizes a smart or controllable material that is responsive to an applied excitation field. The cavity includes an excitation coil for providing an excitation field that changes a material property of the smart fluid. The control unit is programmed to adjust operating parameters to produce seismic waves having a selected frequency and amplitude. In one embodiment, a control unit adjusts operating parameters in response to measured parameters of interest or surface commands.

A liner is inserted in the casing and is preferably expanded into sealing contact with the mounting location on the casing. After expansion a cement retainer positioned at the bottom of the expanded liner and the sliding sleeve located either above the mounting location of the liner in the casing shoe or in the liner below the mounted top section allow cement to be delivered outside the expanded liner and the displaced wellbore fluid to return into the casing through so that the liner can be cemented. The cement retainer can be delivered with either the liner or the expansion tools to allow expansion and cementing in a single trip. A shifting tool can be run on the expansion string to actuate the sliding sleeve and if necessary to allow for cement to be pumped from the drill string into the annulus through the sliding sleeve. The cement retainer can be milled out in a separate trip.

A sleeve that defines a sealed cavity having a loose incompressible material inside covers the mounting location on the casing. The cementing of the casing takes place through the sleeve. After the cementing, the sleeve is drilled out and the incompressible material is removed to the surface with the drill cuttings. A tubular is inserted in the casing and is preferably expanded into sealing contact with the mounting location on the casing. At the end of expansion, the run in shoe on the tubular is retrieved.

Locating recess in a shoe for expandable liner system

A liner is inserted in the casing and is preferably expanded into sealing contact with the mounting location on the casing. After expansion a cement retainer positioned at the bottom of the expanded liner and the sliding sleeve located either above the mounting location of the liner in the casing shoe or in the liner below the mounted top section allow cement to be delivered outside the expanded liner and the displaced wellbore fluid to return into the casing through so that the liner can be cemented. The cement retainer can be delivered with either the liner or the expansion tools to allow expansion and cementing in a single trip. A shifting tool can be run on the expansion string to actuate the sliding sleeve and if necessary to allow for cement to be pumped from the drill string into the annulus through the sliding sleeve. The cement retainer can be milled out in a separate trip.

A downhole tool with a mandrel that is expanded downhole is further actuated due to relative longitudinal movement between the mandrel and a member that accommodates radial expansion without undergoing as much shrinkage as the expanded mandrel or any shrinkage at all. In a packer application, the packer can be set in open hole or cased hole and the relative longitudinal movement that results from mandrel expansion leaves a residual longitudinal compressive force on the sealing element and a tensile reaction force on the underlying mandrel.

A slip for an expanding hanger or patch is disclosed. The slip is mounted over the hanger body and has an internal profile that nests within a mating profile on the exterior of the hanger. When a compressive force is applied to the hanger, it shrinks longitudinally and as a result the slip is cammed radially to the extent the inside diameter of the surrounding tubing permits. When the swage is advanced, the diameter of the hanger increases forcing the slip into preferably penetrating contact with the inside wall of the surrounding tubular.
